The owner of SDR Motorsports, Tim Berendes, has been around UTVs for a while. Starting at the beginning of the UTV revolution, he built what was at the time one of the leaders in the Side X Side industry as the founder and president of PDS Fabrication from 2005-2007. However in the beginning of 2008, it was time for a change. It was time to raise the bar even higher and take on the challenges of new models and new products. It was then that SDR Motorsports was born. He brings with him over 15 years of sales, marketing, and product development leadership in the automotive aftermarket for such companies as Suspension Techniques, Bell-Tech, Intrax suspension, Xenon, and Smittybilt. Tim also brings two years of Chassis design and engineering schooling at Chaffey College and a lifetime spent out off roading and enjoying riding the dunes, tracks, and trails of California. You can trust in his experience, leadership, and integrity to guide you through the maze of products, options, and styles of products on the market today.

Stephanie Shrock is the backbone of everything they do at SDR. She brings years of experience in the financial fields and heads up their accounting department. Along with her duties with AP/AR, she helps with all facets of SDR’s business- from purchasing and customer service to sales, she does it all! An avid off road enthusiast, she frequents all of the Southern California hot spots, and can often be found giving the boys a run for their money through the Glamis Dunes on her YZ250F Dirt Bike.

SDR’s build process is almost like going to a custom coach builder for an automobile. Every customer gets to sit down with SDR’s sales staff and go over a long list of options, including cage accessories, graphic colors, powdercoat and paint options, power upgrades, and more. SDR will do just about any modification to your vehicle, no matter how big or small. Their installers are meticulous with their fit and finish, turning out great craftsmanship that SDR backs up confidently.

SDR’s shop houses four main areas: the offices, the install area, the fabrication department, and the inventory/shipping room. All of the install bays are numbered, and every car includes an information docket that lists the modifications, colors, and customization options. At any given time, 10-25 cars are being worked on in SDR’s shop.

The fabrication department welds every cage, door, and bumper in-house, using precision fitment jigs and highly-skilled welders. Cage materials can be selected, including high quality chromoly and DOM tubing for extra strength. On our most recent RZR build, we had SDR install a custom roof rack that housed lighting and a full-sized 30” spare. Options like these can be selected during the build process and built to each customer’s specifications.

SDR’s most high-profile build to date is the car simply named “Christine”. Utilizing a full fiberglass Glazzkraft body kit, SDR worked with Next Level Aluminum Koncepts to build a full aluminum rear end, roof, and door panels that matched the lines of the fiberglass perfectly. The insane 4 seat RZR ditched the rear seats in favor of some very cool electronically-opening storage hatches, as well as a massive stereo with giant subwoofers. The HCR long travel-equipped and K&T Turbocharged RZR is a rolling work of art, but SDR put some miles on it with us in Glamis prepping it for delivery to the customer. All of their engine and suspension packages are thoroughly tested to ensure the end customer will be completely satisfied with their purchase.
