Among the newest classes on the directory of SCORE desert racing, Class 19 for stock Pro UTVs is attracting attention. Also know as Side-by-Sides, UTVs or just Utility Vehicles, Class 19 has 19 entries, a SCORE record for the new class, in this week’s season-ending 46th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, the legendary granddaddy of all desert races. This year’s epic journey will start and finish in the heart of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, and features a brutally rugged 883-mile course, the longest loop race in the storied history of one of the top 10 motorsports events held annual in the world.
With several factory-supported manufacturer teams in the starting grid Class 19 is getting some much deserved attention from the Baja racing community. Can-Am factory racers who race in Can-Am Maverick 1000R were recently featured on SCORE’s Dirt LiveHD. Spotlighted on show were brothers Derek, 33, and Jason Murray of Eastvalle, Calif., who are part of the Can-Am X-Team. They will be racing a new Can-Am Maverick MAX that was unveiled at the 2013 Sand Sports Super Show in September.

Roger Norman’s Dirt LiveHD one-hour show is broadcast live weekly and the show is anchored around Norman’s two desert racing series, the SCORE Desert Series and the High Desert Racing Association as well as the new bonus points championship purse program he has developed called the World Championship of Desert Racing. All live events, this will be the 40th weekly Dirt LiveHD episode to air. Replays of previous Dirt LiveHD shows are kept in an electronic library on the dirtlive.com website.
Dirt LiveHD also goes on-site live with expanded event coverage during SCORE and HDRA race weeks and will next be on-site to cover the legendary 46th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 on Nov. 13-17 that will start and finish in Ensenada, Mexico.
With a new system of live tracking being used at the race will be available to the public live through Dirt LiveHD on the SCORE website, as well as on-site in the BFGoodrich Tires/Baja California Secretary of Tourism SCORE Media Center at the event. On the SCORE website, Dirt LiveHD will be live streamed throughout race week. At the start/finish line compound, the new SCOREvision LED screen will broadcast the Dirt LiveHD coverage of the race which will include real-time footage from several areas around the race course.
