| 2015 Sand Sports Super Show 17th Annual
TheSand Sports Super Show is the largest sand and off road focused consumer show in the world. And for the last 10 years, UTVs have been playing a larger and larger role in the show. The show continues to grow and we were really excited to see the companies come with a different twist on their product lines, said Shawn Parker. Since 2008, when we had the economic crash that put most of the companies that were showing out of business, we have been consistently growing back to our best show year. We are very proud to say that our vendor spaces were completely sold out this year and we have a waiting list. We are excited and encouraged for our industry with this continual growth again.
With thousands in attendance at the 17th annual Sand Sports Super Show, we can attest to the strength of the UTV industry. Polaris continues to dominate with the RZR XP 1000 and new RZR XP Turbo, but the new Yamaha YXZ1000R was getting a lot of attention. Plus Arctic Cat was showing off their new Speed Energy accessories and had a media event on the Stadium Super Trucks Track to show them off.
Here are a few builds that caught our eye:
TMW OFFROAD -With the show-stopping Werewolf sitting front and center in their booth, TMW drew some of the biggest crowds at the show. This LS2 powered RZR is a super clean and TMW did an awesome job making the car still look like a normal RZR XP 4. Click this link to learn more: TMW Werewolf. Overshadowed by the Werewolf, but still incredible builds were Project Eliminator, which is a Z1 powered XP4 1000 and Project Punisher, a long travel RZR XP Turbo.
RUGGED RADIOS -The Rugged booth was enormous again this year. Taking up nearly a third of the Parade of Products, Rugged was shelling out radios, intercoms, and equipment at extremely discounted pricing. The Rugged crew was also on hand to help with radio troubleshooting, install questions, and product displays. But the big talk in the Rugged Radios booth was their new #BajaRZR. While it looks like a Baja Bug, we can assure you that underneath all the VW is pure Polaris! This retro build got a lot of looks, and a fair share of double takes as well!
SDR MOTORSPORTS – SDR once again had a huge display at this years show. Featuring five awesome cars in the booth, and many more scattered around the rest of the show. The TT RZR made a huge impact on the show with a Trophy Truck inspired body made by GlazzKraft. We can’t wait to see this thing in Glamis!
Cognito Motorsports – Cognito Motorsports moved inside this year and in addition to their race winning “Hell Raiser” chassis, they built 5 different themed RZR XP Turbos. What these builds lacked in flash, they made up for in pure functionality and we like that a lot! The FOX theme was our favorite of these, but all featured Cognito long travel, cage, bumper and doors, with Rigid Industries LEDs, Pro Armor seats and harnesses, Rugged Radios, Sparks Racing exhaust, Method wheels, STU sand tires and Cognito tuned FOX shocks.
Arctic Cat – Arctic Cat has teamed with Robby Gordon and Todd Romano to create a Speed Energy line of accessories for the Wildcat (seeArctic Cat Introduces Race-Inspired SPEED Accessory Line, Developed With Robby Gordon and Todd Romano). We attended a media event where we had a first hand review of the new accessories and the new suspension that will be available for the Wildcat in 2016.
Yamaha YXZ1000R – Yamaha just unveiled the new YXZ1000R sport UTV on September 1, 2015 and one of them went directly to Weller Racing for some customization. This YXZ1000R was not only sporting LoneStar Racing long travel suspension, but also a new cage, along with Raceline wheels and tires.
SuperATV – The Depth Finder was a project created by SuperATV for the TV Show Destination Polaris and features many of their products. Although not geared towards the sand market, Depth Finder illustrates some awesome ingenuity and had people crawling all over it nonstop during the show. SuperATV also had many of their RZR XP 1000 and Turbo products on display including a-arms, heavy duty axles, upgraded steering racks and more.
KC HiLiTES – OurFOX Edition RZR XP 1000 spent the show way up high in the KC HiLiTES booth and attracted a solid stream of enthusiast. Our new Alpine Designs rack was outfitted with a KC LED light bar and Cyclone accent lights and our RZR XP was similarly outfitted with KC single and dual pods and Cyclones. Stand by for more on this RZR as we will show it off during the week of Camp RZR in Glamis.
Proline Wraps – This new RZR XP Turbo named “ATOMACHROME” features HCR Racing long travel suspension, Assault UTV accessories, Vision X LED lights, PRP Seats and harnesses, Racepak gauge and dash, Desert Works cage, Muzzys dual exhaust, King Shocks and of course an awesome Proline Wrap.
SSV Works – Amongst all the other thumping vehicles in the SSV Works booth at the show was our little ACE 570. We have entered our build in the Polaris Editor’s Cup Viral Video Challenge and we need your help to win! All you have to do is go tohttp://bit.ly/ACE-Rubicon and give the video a Thumb’s Up- its just over a minute long, and features some incredible scenery from the breathtaking Rubicon Trail.
