Although the build on “The Beast” was completed for the Sand Sports Super Show, I have been so busy with press intros, King of the Hammers and other projects that I haven’t been able to spend some quality time duning with it. Well, that all changed in March 2014 when I planned a trip to do some video work with the Copter Kids at Sand Mountain and invited Tim from SDR Motorsports to bring “Betsy” up to play.

The Copter Kids use compact unmanned aerial platforms and a RZR XP 1000 to get shots from angles that really show off their subjects. I met them at Sand Mountain on a trip after Christmas and was impressed with the test video they put together (see Copter Kids test video at Sand Mountain).   I figured my turbo RZR would be a perfect vehicle to for their next subject. Having the other SDR car along made it all the more fun.

SDR Motorsports and K&T Performance

Both cars feature K&T Performance turbos and were built by SDR Motorsports. My car started out as a Jagged X RZR XP 900 and Tim’s is a RZR XP 4 1000. These cars both feature long travel suspension, aftermarket shocks,  suspension seats and harnesses, sand tires and beadlock wheels, LED lights and custom graphics. Tim’s will be featured on Destination Polaris this Spring and mine was featured in Sand Sports Magazine.

We both arrived Thursday to have some fun before the video shoot on Friday with the Copter Kids. There weren’t too many people out at Sand Mountain, even though the weather was great. We checked the cars out and then the fun started.

Copter Kids

Friday arrived at the Copter Kids arrived.  They got setup quickly and we headed out for some shots. The sky was not cooperating with an almost completely cloud covered sky, but we had big fun even if they shots don’t pop as much as with great lighting. We did get about an hour of perfect light at the end of the day so hopefully those shots will make up for it.

It was interesting to watch the team work and I cannot wait to see the results of their day spent with us. And a big thanks to Tim at SDR Motorsports for making the long drive to Sand Mountain.  It was way more fun having two awesome cars in the mix.
