The team at Alternative Offroad in Chatsworth, California was recently invited to visit Vision X, one of the industry leaders in offroad lighting solutions and a company that they distribute for. Alternative Offroad not only distributes Vision X lights, but they also install and wire a lot of their products on UTV’s and trucks such as the Ford Raptor on a consistent basis. They were given an opportunity to learn about operations at Vision X’s facility as well as discuss some new product development.

Vision X is located in Auburn, Washington. About a 20 minute drive from the Seattle airport. This is their main distribution and custom-build facility here in the US. They also have a main manufacturing facility which they own in South Korea, that houses all the latest in robotic manufacturing and testing equipment. We started off the tour in the brisk morning hours on a Monday morning. We were all in awe by the sheer size of this building. Just over 100,000 square feet of office, manufacturing, warehousing, and shipping space. We walked in the front door to a wall full of light displays, which is also where local customers can will-call their orders for pickup on the same or next day.

Walking inside, we found a very efficient operation. All orders are handled in a certain way with color-coded stamps and are placed on a board to ensure that high-priority and next day shipments are built, packed, and shipped in the order they were received and on-time for the delivery truck.

They started us off in the warehouse, where numerous employees were already busy meticulously packing up orders and double checking them for accuracy. Vision X makes sure that at least 2 team members sign off on orders before they are finalized and leave the door. The team was hard at work packing up a huge order for a stadium who was replacing their old metal halide lights with the Vision X Pitmaster Industrial/Mining Light. These things were no joke, in fact all of Vision X’s warehouse lights were in the process of being converted to these particular lights.

We then moved on to the inventory area. Vision X stocks a massive amount of inventory ready to pick and pull and ship that same day, from headlight bulbs and OE light brackets to 50” Lightbars and Light Cannons that will shoot well over a 1/2 mile. However, they do also have a full custom build department ready to make the light of your dreams a reality. Which brings us to the next part of the tour..

Fire Truck with LED Light Bar

We moved on to the custom build department, which is a team of anywhere between 5-7 guys who are ready to customize the light you need to your exact specifications, usually without an added cost. The customization options on their lights range from simple optic swaps to fully custom wiring solutions. When we were there, it just so happened that they were building a custom 70” lightbar for a fire department, who needed a low profile light with a white powdercoated housing and 5 different light colors that were all switched separately and also strobed. It was pretty impressive to say the least. The team really knew anything and everything that came their way and it didn’t seem that anything was a challenge to them. One thing that also impressed us was their dunk tank. After every light is built or customized they dunk the light in a tank full of water and keep it submerged for a total of 24 hours to ensure a good seal before it’s sent out to the customer.

Our last stop of the tour was the offices where the processing team as well as the sales team were hard at work. We sat in their conference room and had discussions about product development that will come to the table soon, such as lighting packages specific for UTV’s. These different stage packages will be a complete lighting solution for any UTV, with all mounting hardware included and lights ranging from mild to wild! Keep an eye out for these kits.

Vision X LED Lights

The team at Vision X really knows their product, and they have some of the best customer service in the industry. All of their lights come with a lifetime warranty and they certainly stand behind that guarantee.

Thanks again to Vision X for all of the hospitality while we were up there. For more info, please visit their website at www.VisionXUSA.com
