LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. – The 43rd running of the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix (LEGP) will be returning to The Diamond Stadium on Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, 2011. Racers from around the globe will join together in Lake Elsinore, California to compete in the historic event.
The LEGP is a diverse seven-mile course that runs through the streets and foothills of Lake Elsinore. Each year, this lakeside course delivers intense thrills and occasional spills to thousands of fans that line the race. Start/Finish lines, registration and pits will be located around the stadium at 500 Diamond Dr. The weekend event will feature traditional race classes including dirt bikes, ATV’s, vintage bikes and UTV’s, with races beginning at 7:30am on both days.
“The Grand Prix is a big part of Lake Elsinore’s history,” said Bruce Kessman, Vice President and General Manager of Storm Events, “Over the last three years, both the local community and former LEGP racers have aided in creating the most challenging, yet entertaining course to date. The goal was to heighten the excitement and bring back parts of the original race course. Podium Productions and E-Timeit have been great support for us, managing course building, race logistics and scoring.”
The famous 100-mile Harvey Mushman Race, named after actor and racer Steve McQueen, features a $5000 purse and will be an exciting finale to the 2011 LEGP on Sunday. Additionally, Storm Events is currently developing new activities as well as bringing in more vendors to enhance the overall race atmosphere at the stadium.
