Jagged X 2017 BITD Parker 250 Race Report

Jagged X Racing

Jagged X launches the 2017 Race season with a solid performance at the GMZ UTV Winter Nationals presented by Polaris RZR in Parker, Arizona. There is always great anticipation for the first race of the season and this year was no different. The sport of UTV racing continues to grow with no signs of slowing. This was evidenced by the massive field of entries for this race which has been enhanced greatly by GMZ Racing Products. GMZ has stepped up big to make this race huge a success. Big prize money, product offerings and more events helped lure nearly 100 UTV racers to this great race. Let us not forget Polaris RZR for standing behind the sport 100 percent and for their generous vehicle prizes.

The Jagged X team arrived in Parker ready to do battle on this familiar piece of battered ground. Recent weather promised to make the course fast with little to no dust. The BITD points race was scheduled for a 1:00 pm start, racing the full three laps to make it a true “250” ending in a grand prix finish which would take most of the field into the darkness. Brandon Schueler and Pat Stone were staged in the 7th starting position (4th row) behind some truly talented performers. When the green flag dropped the 919 Polaris XP turbo 4 wasted no time leaving the start and reeling in the field. At around mile 18, already running in the third physical position, the car would suffer a broken drive belt. Even a quick repair would cost the team several positions but they began work through the field once again. Later on the first lap another unfortunate mechanical issue would slow the Jagged RZR but once resolved at the main pit the car ran flawlessly the remainder of the race. Smart steady driving allowed Brandon and Pat to grab the 7th spot in the highly competitive Pro Turbo Class and an overall 10th spot. With this level of competition, consistent driving and solid finishes will be the key to capturing yet another BITD championship this year.

Earlier in the day Pat Stone drove his Stock XP 1000 play car to an impressive 3rd place finish in the production 1000 race while in the Production Turbo class Bill Schueler was able to pull off a 4th place finish.
