HOLZ RACING AT THE MINT 400

Lynden, Washington (March 29, 2012) – The Holz Racing/Coastal Racing desert car (Polaris RZR XP) lined up in the 14th starting position in 1900 Class. After finishing 3rd at the Parker 250, we were optimistic about winning the Mint. The 1934 car was very fast in testing the previous week, so anticipation was high.
Scott Kiger and Mark Holz made a good start and began passing early. The car was fast and they avoided damage. By mile 65 they were leading the Class and eased into a pace as comfortable as the rough conditions would allow. Scott and Mark continued to make time and finished the first lap in 02:08:31.035, a full seven minutes faster than the car running in 2nd place.

Early in the 2nd lap the course conditions took their toll on the car. They bent a trailing arm and limped to Pit 1 for repair. Then 45 miles later, a hazard broke an a-arm and stole their hopes for a win.

The performance of 1934 was even better than we had hoped. We’ve got a little more than a month to work on some durability issues and look forward to winning at the Silver State 300!
