GenRight Off-Road supports OHV Lobby day in Sacramento

Simi Valley, CA – May 4, 2010 – Monday April 26th, 2010 marked the day of the annual California League of Off-Road Voters (CLORV) OHV Lobby day in Sacramento, CA.  This day was designed to give an opportunity for Off-Road Vehicle users and their families to visit the State Capitol and legislative offices.  The goal was simple, to introduce themselves to legislative staff with hopes of creating a positive and personal relationship. Attendees were encouraged to bring their entire family to promote a positive image for the Off-Road community. For some, this was the first time they would encounter the actual legislative process.

Tony Pellegrino from GenRight Off-Road made the trip to Sacramento on Sunday afternoon after spending the weekend in Johnson Valley, CA at the Tin Benders Jamboree.   He wanted to be sure and participate in one of the most important aspects of off-roading, to fight for our rights to use public lands.  After reaching Sacramento, he realized the group had their work cut out for them this year as their schedule was packed with appointments and activities.  The group started the day Monday scouring the halls making it a point to build relationships with each politician and maximize the time they had there.  The lunch break was filled with workshops to help better educate everyone involved, followed by more door knocking in the halls of Sacramento during the afternoon session.  The late afternoon brought a social mixer to allow everyone to mingle on a more social level before it was time to catch the flights back home.

Tony Pellegrino had this to say about the event, “It is impressive to see the workings of our government in action and it just reassures me that we need to stay focused on our tasks at hand.  Fighting for our rights to use public land is a constant battle and I urge everyone to get involved and stay involved.”  He also made note that at next years OHV lobby day, he will be bringing the staff of GenRight Off-Road to lead by example and show how important building relationships with our legislators is to ensure the future of our public lands.
The 2010 CLORV Lobby Day was considered a huge success by all and will be gaining momentum for next year.  To get involved and see how you can help protect our public lands please visit www.clorv.org for more information.
