Maxxis ruled the podium at WORCS Round 7, with four victories including a sixth straight Pro win for Team Maxxis/H&M’s Beau Baron. The race was held August 11 at Glen Helen Raceway in Devore, California.

Baron took the lead soon after his second-place start, and held the front spot for most of the race. Teammate David Haagsma was a close second for much of the event, and took the lead for a short while before Baron regained it for good. “Halfway through the race I was trying new lines in the gnarly rocks and came up with a faster line to save my day,” said Baron. “Actually, he [Haagsma] had a great line and he was gaining on me every lap and passed me in the pits. When he went through the next lap in the sand wash I followed him and picked up a bunch of time. Then I was able to pass him in the pits. He was going right through some gnarly rocks and it panned out!” Baron, who enjoys a 17-point lead in the race for the title, has won all but one of this season’s races to date.

Haagsma took second place for the day, his fifth consecutive second-place finish, and is second in the Pro points race with 153. He took another turn on the podium during the weekend as the winner of the Side x Side Production 700 class in his Polaris RZR 570, which he leads in points. He has won every Side x Side Production 700 race except the first, in which he did not start.

The story was similar in the Pro Am class, where Grant Mitchell leads in points and won the day’s race as well. The victory was Mitchell’s second in a row. In Side x Side Pro Production, Ryan Piplic won on Maxxis’ Vipr tires in his Polaris RZR XP. “The track was pretty much a mix of everything, bluegroove, sand, loose topsoil and really rocky sand washes. I needed the best all-around tire, so I went with the Vipr,” Piplic said. Baron, who finished fourth in Side x Side Pro at Round 7, leads the class in points, with Piplic in second place.

Maxxis congratulates Beau Baron, David Haagsma, Grant Mitchell and Ryan Piplic on their victories, and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
