Cognito takes 1st and 3rd podium spots at Lucas Oil So Cal Regional

Polaris RZR XP 900 race class

Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series in Southern California held round 3 at Glen Helen Raceway. The stock Polaris RZR XP 900 class has the largest field of racers in the series, and 20 competed in this round. The team of Cognito Motorsports was represented by 3 drivers this round, WORCS UTV 2012 champion Ryan Piplic as well as former WORCS racer Casey Filippi and new UTV racer Brandon Hong. All 3 racers would trust Cognito suspension with Fox shocks and Sparks Performance Products to bring the RACE out in these UTV’s!

The Saturday morning qualifier would place Ryan Piplic in 3rd, Brandon Hong in 5th and Casey Filippi in 8th qualifying positions. The top 6 places are inverted for the main event and that put Brandon on the outside of the first row, and Piplic right behind him.

The green flag dropped and the seasoned WORCS champ Ryan Piplic raced up on the outside of the front row to make it 3 cars wide going over the table top and into turn 1. Brandon would hold the lead for nearly a lap as Piplic was challenging and then made the pass to overtake 1st position. Piplic would own it for the rest of the race as he battled back and forth with Cody Rahders. Brandon held on to 3rd place edging out the round 1 and 2 winner, Jeremiah Staggs, and put Cognito on 2 spots of the podium! The front half of the pack was very competitive, and starting in 8th position Casey was able to move up to a 6th place finish. Thanks to JDMfotos.com for the race day photo coverage!
