Cognito scores 2nd at Vegas to Reno

Polaris RZR XP 4

The 2013 Vegas to Reno race was 543 miles of desert excitement. This year’s Pro UTV entries consisted of 17 determined cars to conquer the desert. The Cognito Motorsports team prepped and tested more than ever leading up to this race, eager to charge for a podium finish!

The first 50 miles in the still morning air left the dust hanging and the visibility nearly nothing. Charging down competitors in low visibility can quite often lead to a flat tire, and the Cognito Polaris RZR XP 4 had the first flat of the day early on. The next 300 miles went fairly smooth, Cognito swapped positions several times with the other front runners and had a small set back with another flat and a broken axle, sometimes those rocks jump out from nowhere!

In the last 150 miles the top 4 cars were checking out, there were still 4 hours of racing left and anything could happen, Lambert driving the Cognito car was now in 3rd position hunting down 2 cars but well aware a finish was still very important. A drive terrain issue would cost 25 additional minutes while making the repair on course, getting back underway without losing a single position. The lead car would have a bigger issue with 70 miles left, and allow the Cognito Motorsports team to cross the finish line 23 minutes behind the winner, for a 2nd place finish!
