Since its inception in 2017, the Maverick X3 super-sport side-by-side vehicle has impressed the masses with its invigorating performance and one-of-a-kind styling. Can-Am has reinforced its performance authority for 2020 with a new Maverick X3 Turbo RR engine that now supplies an industry-leading 195hp. That’s a gain of 23hp and 11 lb-ft (135 lb-ft) from the new Rotax mill. These reliable gains were achieved by adding a bigger turbo, intercooler and a less restrictive airbox to increase airflow and also simultaneously enhancing reliability. Internally, the new Rotax engine uses a Rotax-manufactured turbo and pistons to assure maximum quality. The CVT was also recalibrated to match the new performance levels and improve belt longevity.
The 2020 Maverick X3 with 72-in. widths includes a thorough suspension calibration. This results in up to 1-in. more ground clearance (16-in.) for better obstacle crossing ability. All X rs packages also include new tire widths (9-in. front / 11-in. rear), improving rear traction, reduced steering kickback and enriching drivability.
Other Maverick X3 family updates include new wheels and tires on Maverick X3 X rc Turbo RR and Maverick X3 X rs Turbo RR for a bolder appearance. The X rc Turbo RR also wears larger diameter 32-in. Maxxis Liberty tires and 15-in. wheels for better ground contact and obstacle crossings. A new digital display improves first-glance visibility. The base units receive a 4.5-in. digital display, while all Maverick X3 X-package vehicles now include a premium, easier-to-read 7.6-in. digital display. An all-new onboard keypad simplifies drive mode, trip and DPS selection.

The Can-Am Maverick X3 X rc Turbo RR side-by-side vehicle wears a new 15-in. (38.1 cm) cast-aluminum beadlock wheels. The mechanical fastening beadlock system makes it nearly impossible for the tire bead to break loose from the wheel during heavy acceleration, cornering or when navigating a rock-strewn course.
Large 32-in. (81.3 cm) Maxxis Liberty tires supply numerous biting edges, sturdy lugs and confidence for negotiating both trails and rocky challenges alike.
4,500-lbs. (2,041 kg) winch with synthetic rope
The Maverick X3 X rc vehicles include a 4,500-lbs. (2,041 kg) winch with a synthetic rope and rock guard sleeve to enhance its overall abilities in the rocks. The durable system, mounted low on the front bumper of the vehicle, offers ample pulling strength when traction and leverage are in utmost demand. The synthetic rope is ideal because it’s both strong and lightweight and is easy to work with in high-use situations.
Electronically controlled, on-the-fly, front lockable differential with Smart-Lok technology
A new industry standard, electronically controlled front lockable differential system with Smart-Lok technology ensures maximum traction and enhanced slow-speed maneuverability especially in challenging terrain. The Smart-Lok system, developed in conjunction with TEAM Industries, takes integrated intelligence to new heights and allows on-the-fly adjustments. The differential can lock and unlock on the fly no matter the speed, letting the driver focus on the trail. The electronic system, via its Front Differential Module (FDM), gathers at least six data inputs (engine torque, vehicle speed, wheel RPM, steering feedbacks, throttle pedal, gear position) and smartly, strongly and quickly engages an integrated actuator with proper load and without delay.
The result is simple steering output (same as being fully open), allowing the driver to accurately conquer varying obstacles while maintaining momentum. The driver has the option to select between four modes: 2×4 / 4×4 fully locked / 4×4 ROCK and 4×4 TRAIL. The integrated ROCK and TRAIL settings are designed to enhance the off-road experience by offering a more customized feel to match to specific terrain, conditions and demands.
