Rally on the Rock is an event I look forward to every year. Moab is an off-roaders paradise with terrific scenery and challenging trails and is well suited for UTVs. I first off-roaded in Moab back in 1999 during the Easter Jeep Safari, then in a Yamaha Rhino back in 2007 for the original UTV Rally. From that point, I have only missed one annual UTV event in Moab.
The annual UTV in Moab has changed hands and names a few times since the beginning, but now under Rally on the Rocks it is the second largest event in Moab each year. And by checking out the image from 2007, you can surely say that UTVs have progressed in ten years as well!
For this year’s Rally, I brought our 2017 Polaris RZR XP 1000 that I raced for King of the Hammers. We took third place (see 2017 King of the Hammers Race Recap) at the UTV race and serious love this RZR for rock crawling. Since the race, we have added a few accessories to better outfit the car for adventure riding and also test out a few new products that have caught our eye. Among these new products are:
- Warn 9.0rc winch with Campbell Racing bumper and Factor 55 closed system winching UltraHook.
- SuperATV Rhino 2.0 Axles
- Shock Therapy Steering Rack
- KC HiLiTES LED Lights
- Buggy Whips LED Whip Lights
- Cognito Motorsports Radius Plate
Over the course of the week, we hit Top of the World, Hells Revenge (a few times), Pritchett Canyon, Fins & Things and Steel Bender. Other than some rain on Wednesday, we had a great stay in Moab with some awesome industry friends. The week always seems to fly by much to quickly and every year I want to plan to make it to Moab more than once a year. Goals…

Rally on the Rocks event offers guided trails for the beginner with incredible scenery and vistas to the most challenging and demanding that will be sure to test driver and machine. Each day they have numerous UTV friendly, trails planned throughout the Moab area. Many including casual scenic routes and demanding technical routes for the most experienced operators. Most of the trails leave from Spanish Trail Arena with Police escort to/from the trail so it isn’t necessary to be street legal while on a guided ride with Rally on the Rocks.
