Walker Evans Racing News – From Coast to Coast, Anderson Continues to Impress

RJ Anderson WINS Rounds 9 & 10 at Glen Helen in his Polaris RZR XP 900

Riverside, CA 8/10/2011 – RJ Anderson continues his quest for an off-road short course championship competing in both the TORC and Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series’ (LOORRS). With new sponsors Dethrone Racing and Oakley joining the team and a fresh new engine in the #637 Walker Evans Racing Polaris RZR, RJ and team had some extra juice heading back to the west coast after a long journey back east to Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Coming off an impressive early summer race schedule RJ and his Walker Evans Racing team once again loaded the semi for a cross country trek to Charlotte, NC to compete in rounds 5 & 6 of the TORC Racing Series. RJ is currently sitting 8th in points in his first full season in the Pro-Lite class at TORC. The team had a good weekend despite a transmission failure on Saturday’s round 6 race. Friday’s Round 5 had RJ qualifying 1st putting him on the pole. Anderson came out swinging in his #37 Walker Evans Racing V8 Pro-Lite. While fighting a slick and muddy track he was able to muscle his Pro-Lite into the top 5 ending the day with a 4th place finish. Saturday found RJ starting in the middle of the pack due to inversion. It only took a few laps for him to work his way up into 3rd place when he suddenly realized he had a flat forcing RJ to pit his #37 V* Pro-Lite. The Walker Evans Racing team quickly changed the tire getting him back in the race without losing a lap which is a feat in itself! Anderson worked himself back into a groove but before he could settle a mechanical failure caused him to have to limp the #37 in for a 10th place finish.

It’s always frustrating when your team works so hard and you don’t give them the finish they deserve. We were super excited going into the weekend and while it didn’t go our way I am very grateful to have such a solid team and such great sponsors behind me. I couldn’t belive how quickly my guys changed that tire and got me back on the track. I owe them a lot and I hope to get us all some much deserved wins.” – RJ Anderson

There was no time to rest as the team packed up and made their way back home to the west coast. Walker Evans Racing is based out of Riverside, CA and they were extremely happy to have the next round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) back in their own neck of the woods. Rounds 9 & 10 of the LOORRS series were to be held at Glen Helen Raceway which is only minutes from the Walker Evans Racing headquarters. The team opted to not race the Pro-Lite this round giving RJ and his team a slightly less hectic race weekend back in Southern California.

The Walker Evans Racing team has been working hard on getting RJ’s #637 Polaris Ranger RZR XP900 Unlimited UTV up to the level they know it could be at. While it has taken most of the season to dial the UTV in the way they want it, it has not kept RJ from winning and finishing strong almost every race this season. RJ came into Glen Helen with the points lead in Unlimited UTV and would leave with an even greater lead after a stunning performance both days.

During Friday’s qualifying round it was obvious RJ had a little something up his sleeve as he took his #637 Walker Evans Racing/Polaris Ranger RZR XP900 strait to the front of the pack qualifying first in class with only one SR1 being faster! This put him on the pole for Saturday’s round 9 race which is always an advantage. RJ led the Unlimited UTV class from start to finish racing smart and clean just trying to hold his lines and stay away from the other UTV’s and SR1’s on the track. The win was a great way to start the weekend and it was a great way to promote his new sponsors Dethrone Racing and Oakley. Sunday had RJ once again starting in the front row where for 3 laps he would lead the entire field of Unlimited UTV’s and SR1’s before finally mixing it up with the others on the track. RJ was only passed once by a fellow Unlimited UTV competitor but that lead was short lived as the competitor had a mechanical failure forcing him to pull off the track and relinquishing the lead back to RJ who would hold on for his second win of the weekend. The back to back wins was huge for RJ and a blow to the rest of the field who are trying to keep up with RJ Anderson in the class battle for a championship.

My Polaris RZR XP is really fast! I am so stoked on the power and quickness it has now which I owe entirely to my engine sponsors Kevin Kroyer of Kroyer Race Engines, Muzzys Performance, and K&N Filters. This Polaris UTV is amazing and is really fun to drive. It was important for me to put on a good performance this weekend in UTV, not only for my team and sponsors but also for the fans and my new sponsors Dethrone Racing and Oakley who have come on board to support me. I am really lucky to have such a great team and I am super pumped on the season this far.” – RJ Anderson
