UTV Water Temperature and Voltmeter Installation

UTV - Water Termperature and Voltmeter Gauges

Overview:

Two critical pieces of information for UTV owners are voltage and water temperature.

Voltmeter:

With all of the lights, seat heaters, GPS, radios, intercoms and stereos we like to put in our rides, there is bound to be some issues.  Factory stator output and additional accessories battle it out and it can leave you stranded on the trail on in the dunes with a dead battery.  Don’t ask how I know, but I do have some first hand experience with this. Before you run out and add another battery or additional charging capacity, your first step should be a voltmeter.  A voltmeter allows you to monitor your current charge level so decisions can be made about turning off accessories before the battery runs dead.

Water Temperature:

I don’t know about you, but I sure like to monitor the temperature of my off-road vehicles.  Over heating is no fun, but we are pushing UTV farther than any manufacturer thought their vehicle could go.  Riding in the dunes and increasing engine performance put hard loads on the cooling system.  A water temp gauge will help you know when trouble is brewing so you can make adjustments before the idiot light comes on and it is too late.

I have been delinquent in getting my Teryx setup for these gauges, but there is no time like the present to get it done.  I did a little searching on the internet and found a great setup from UTV Crap out of Mesa, AZ.  UTV Crap not only sells tons of cool UTV stuff, but they also manufacture lots of goodies that fill the void left at the factory.

UTV Crap’s Water Temp Kit included a 2″ water temp gauge and an inline gauge water temp sending unit housing. They also stock volt gauges, plus several other type of gauges.  One stop shopping.  I like that.
