A love for cars, trucks and SUVs is the motivating force behind the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). This trade association consists of a diverse group of manufacturers, distributors, retailers, publishing companies, auto restorers, street rod builders, restylers, car clubs, race teams and more. UTVs specific products used to be few and far between, but in 2016 a lot of that has changed.  Especially in the South Upper Hall which is more focused on off-road products.

“The SEMA Show is the place where the newest and most innovative aftermarket products debut,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. “And the SEMA Show exhibitors are the innovators and visionaries who help guide future trends in the industry.”

We made pass through the 2016 SEMA Show and these are some of the top products we spotted for the UTV market.

KC HiLiTES

The Pro6 starts life with the patented Gravity LED GRD technology using the G6 LED optical insert. G6 LED inserts are strung together via the patent-pending Pro6 Infinity Ring™ system. Each Infinity Ring connects together via an ingenious bolt pattern that allows you to keep the bar straight, OR make it radius without buying anything extra. Yes, you read that right, no additional light bar needed. The Pro6 allows you to add or take away lights, giving you the flexibility to build this bar for your particular vehicle, even if that vehicle changes over the course of the years. And, with the ability to change out the individual G6 lights, you can change the light patterns in your bar.

HiPer

HiPer unveiled the new F-Spec series wheel at the SEMA Show. The new wheels feature Flow Form technology, an industry first in the UTV 15-inch wheel category. This new manufacturing process not only adds strength, but unmatched quality to the newest line of UTV wheels from HiPer. Flow Form technology produces a wheel that is 20% stronger, yet 15% lighter than cast wheels.  The F-Spec wheels are available in two styles – 15-inch Raptor and 14-inch Falcon.

If you can remember, WELD acquired HiPer in 2015, and since then consolidated HiPer Technology’s operations into its Kansas City, Missouri-based headquarters. “Since the acquisition we have moved quickly and diligently to position HiPer to better serve customers and the marketplace. This has included an aggressive production build schedule for 2016,” said Norm Young, president and CEO of WELD. “Completing the move to Kansas City allows us to consolidate and maximize many business functions, including finance, sales, engineering, marketing and customer support. It also provides HiPer with access to WELD’s forging operations and improved product quality and design.”

Vision X

Last year, Vision X introduced the XPR LED Light Bar. Utilizing top-binned 10-Watt LEDs and large proprietary 1.5” diameter IRIS Reflectors, the XPR Light Bar is capable of reaching distances of 2,080 feet of usable light (51″ XPR-27M). This unmatched long-distance projection is also accompanied by precisely tilted IRIS Reflectors that create a unique combination beam pattern to provide even more visibility at the road’s edge. The XPR features a lifespan boosting heat sink design that utilizes deep horizontal fins within the high-quality aluminum housing to dissipate heat produced from the high-powered 10-Watt LEDs. Whether it’s a desolate frozen road in Alaska or on the race course in Baja, off-road champions and transportation professionals alike have relied on the XPR technology to exceed their demands in extreme temperatures and rugged terrain.

And at the 2016 SEMA Show, Vision X added their Halo technology to the XPRS. The Halo feature allows users to light up the area behind the reflector LEDs separate from the main light source.  The Halo effect can be triggered by a separate switch or tied in with low-beam lights.

ODYSSEY / Enersys

EnerSys is manufacturer of ODYSSEY batteries, and at SEMA 2016 they had a Polaris RZR XP1000 in their booth. Many UTV enthusiasts tax their 12-volt systems to the limit with extra accessories such as additional lights, stereos and other electronics. When you need more from a batter than OEM can provide, ODYSSEY is a name known for extreme battery solutions.

ODYSSEY PC1200LMJT

ODYSSEY PC1200LMJT

Enersys now recommends the ODYSSEY PC1200LMJT battery as a drop in upgrade for the Polaris RZR XP1000. The ODYSSEY PC1200LMJT battery provides engine-cranking pulses up to 1,200 amps and 540 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) and can also handle 400 charge-discharge cycles to 80 percent depth of discharge. Additionally, dry cell Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) separators hold acid in place to prevent spills, even when the battery is installed on its side.

Lazer Star Lights

Lazer Star unveiled their new 12-Volt controller system at SEMA 2016.  The setup gives users plug-n-play wiring solutions for lights and other 12-volt accessories. The controller will save hours on install and utilizes relays for proper accessory control.
