Kawasaki Teryx
King of the Hammers Project

UTVGuide.net built up a 2008 Kawasaki Teryx LE for UTV King of the Hammers Race that
was
organized by Side X Side Super Jam.
King Of the Hammers is only in its third year, but the
popularity of this event is off-the-charts. King Of the Hammers is a unique
race, in that it combines everything from high speed desert racing to the
controlled mayhem of rock crawling. For the 2009 race, UTVs will be thrown into
the mix as part of a demonstration race.
The UTV King of the Hammers Race was held at Johnson Valley OHV area on February 25, 2009. King of the Hammers
is an incredibly demanding terrain for UTVs. The first 35 miles of the course is
the same that the buggies ran on the big race. This included big whooped
out trails, dry lake bed, rocks and a crazy rock/sand hill climb. At the top of
Aftershock, the trail turns off and heads to Lower Big Johnson, then back
through the desert to the start/finish line.
Our focus in preparing for the race was reliability and
durability and I think we did a pretty good job. In reality, there were
only two cars that could have continued on at the end of the race - our Teryx
and Jagged X's BITD Polaris RZR.
