The Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series is winding down the 2013 season and the racing action was hotter than ever for Round 5 at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. The Rockstar Energy / Polaris UTV Wolfpack Team captured another 2nd place podium and continued the record streak of finishing in the top 3 at almost every event entered.

The weekend started off looking good with a solid crowd braving warm summer temperatures. The racers proved how hungry they were by turn out in droves to make for yet another fantastic day of short course off road racing at the Lucas Oil Regional Series.

The Rockstar Energy / Polaris UTV Wolfpack ran hard and earned solid qualifying positions with Brian Carr earning the 4th quickest lap, and Jason Merrell 5th fastest. Jeremy Merrell and Jacob Shaw (subbing for Jordan Cochrum) rounded out near the back, but would make a tremendous run to the front during the race.

The main event would call for a position inversion pushing one of the Rockstar cars up to the pole. At the drop of the green flag, the Polaris RZR XP 900s scrambled off the start. The UTV Wolfpack smashed the gas battling for position on their way to the front.

The #713 Rockstar Energy Polaris Machine went head-to-head in a heated race with the leader for the entire 12 lap event. In the end the Wolfpack came through to secure the 2nd place podium finish.

Behind the leaders was a different story for the Rockstar Energy / Polaris UTV Wolfpack. During the course of the opening lap, Jason Merrell and the #718 car had passed 3 competitors and was charging hard to secure a podium position. Running at top speed and wheel-to-wheel with the 2nd place Polaris, the #718 car went flying off the very large backstretch table top and landed hard. The hard landing caused a ball-joint failure and unfortunately left the 718 wounded with a mechanical failure.

Jacob Shaw in the #702 (driving in place of Jordan Cochrum) and the #777x car of Jeremy Merrell would make an impressive run from the very back of the field to well deserved top 5 finishes. Jeremy and Jacob would make quick work of their competition and picked off each racer in the corners or through the rhythm sections simply out driving their competitors.

When the checkered flag waved at the finish line, the Rockstar Energy / Polaris UTV Wolfpack finished with 3 cars in the top 5 positions; 2nd place, 4th place and 5th place. Despite the intense heat, highly competitive racing and the woes of short course off road racing, the Rockstar Energy / Polaris UTV Wolfpack strives to perform and deliver results on and off the track. It is the support of our team partners that allow for this tremendous effort to continue. We appreciate all the consideration extended.
