Polaris Ranger 6×6 – Rutgers University
Fire & RescueInformation: The Polaris Ranger 6×6 is utilized by the Department of Emergency Services to provide standby coverage during the numerous campus events held each year. The unit was primarily purchased to provide coverage during football games held at the Rutgers Stadium, but the use has expanded greatly. The unit is staffed with Firefighter/EMTs and allows the crew to carry a significant amount of equipment and quickly move through the large crowds. The fire suppression component of the unit has proved especially helpful in suppressing small fires caused by tailgaters in the tightly packed parking lots. The units small size and versatility allows the unit to enter areas that fire apparatus can not.
