Harnett Sheriff's Office Receives All-Terrain Vehicle Through Operation Ranger Project
The Harnett County Sheriff's Office has been awarded a grant through the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Operation Ranger program. They were one of approximately 75 agencies across the United States that received this grant during the 2008 award period. The grant provides a Polaris Ranger 6-by-6 utility vehicle.
The U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Operation Ranger program awards rugged, off-road utility vehicles to the nation's emergency responders. To date, more than 400 vehicles have been awarded across all 50 states.
The Operation Ranger program exists both to recognize the service of the nation's emergency responders and to provide a versatile, practical vehicle that will enhance emergency response capability at the community level. The many vehicle recipient agencies have helped shape this signature program since its inception as a pilot program in late 2002.
"This vehicle will allow us to provide better services to the citizens of Harnett County and will be an asset to all agencies in our county," said Sheriff Larry Rollins. "We plan to use this vehicle to enhance our current programs and assist our fellow agencies with their emergency service needs."
