Pit Bull Tires UTV King of the Hammers $5,000 Purse Largest in History of UTV Racing

JOHNSON VALLEY, CA, OCTOBER 10, 2009: The Pit Bull Tires UTV King of the Hammers race will be held on Thursday February 11th, 2010 as part of the week long Hammerking Productions event in Johnson Valley, CA. The first place purse for this stand alone race will be $5,000. There will also be multiple contingency opportunities.

Pit Bull Tires has stepped up to the challenge and is proud to be the Title Sponsor of the UTV King of the Hammers race. “I believe that this is the next big race. You have to want to win this race, to even complete it,” said Mike Green of Pit Bull Tires. “We are very excited to be the title sponsor.” Pit Bull Tires is adding to the purse a set of their UTV tires for the first three finishers and the last place finisher.

All of last years drivers, and many of the current Griffin King of the Hammers drivers have committed to racing. The driver application will be online at www.kingofthehammers.com within the month. There is currently no cap on entries, and Hammerking Productions expects a great field of celebrities, seasoned racers, and enthusiasts that just want to come out and experience this epic adventure.

In 2009, the exhibition UTV race was held and completed within four hours. The five racers took their vehicles and tested them in the desert and in some of the most extreme rock crawling environments. This year, the course will be a little longer, a little harder, and will utilize some of the King of the Hammers rule book which includes no spectator help, only competitor help. The length of the course has not been determined at this time. There will be additional information available soon on www.KingOfTheHammers.com.

Hammerking Productions, Inc. created the “King of the Hammers” off-road race in 2007 (www.kingofthehammers.com). The first UTV King of the Hammers race was held in 2009 as an exhibition to see how the UTV’s did in these extreme conditions. In 2010 the Pit Bull Tires UTV King of the Hammers will grow into a full fledge race.

The 2010 Griffin King of the Hammers will be on Friday February 12th, 2010 where over 15,000 drivers and fans from around the globe will descend on the desert of Johnson Valley for over a week of off-road related activities. The 2009 running of the King of the Hammers was featured on Spike TV and in the film “Second Crusade.” In 2009, Hammerking expanded race action to include three additional regional qualifiers for the 2010 race. King of the Hammers Special: Xtreme 4x4 on Spike TV This Weekend


Ian Johnson, host of Xtreme 4x4, brings the 2009 Griffin Thermal Products King of the Hammers ‐ the toughest one day off road race in the world ‐ to your living room this weekend! Ian joined the 92 drivers in the desert on February 26‐27, 2009 as man and machine competed against The Hammers at Johnson Valley OHV, CA. The two day hard core battle has been whittled down to 30 minutes of action packed racing. You will see some of the top racers including this years King: Jason Scherer. Also featuring Casey Currie, Rick Mooneyham, Adam Woodlee and the 2008 King of the Hammers winner Shannon Campbell, race promoters Jeff Knoll and Dave Cole along with many many more.
You will get to see the amazing pieces of machinery that are specially built just for this race. Racers and their crews talk about working to create vehicles with the perfect 4x4 mix of desert racing and rock crawling.

Polaris RZR captures King of the Hammers

Side-by-Side captures King of the Hammers

Minneapolis, March 4, 2009 – The RANGER RZR added a few more notches to its belt taking first and second in the King of the Hammers Side-by-Side race. The Side-by-Side continues to show its versatility and durability in any racing terrain.

Mitch Guthrie took the King of the Hammers Side-by-Side race, at Johnson Valley OHV Area, in his modified RANGER RZR with Polaris Racers, Jagged X, taking second. The King of the Hammers was a 48-mile race that combined the technical aspects of rock crawling with the challenges of desert racing.

UTV Class at the 2009 King of the Hammers

W.E.ROCK Events in coordination with Hammer King Productions and Side X Side Super Jam, brings a UTV Class race to the 2009 King of the Hammers (KOH) race week. The UTV Class race will be a limited entry, and shortened version of the buggy race. Top UTV racers, UTV media representatives and Rock Crawlers (in UTVs) will race across the rugged terrain of Johnson Valley SVRA, known as the Hammers. The race course will include 2 of the infamous Hammers rock crawling trails and miles of desert sections, which will include lakebeds, whoop sections, gravel and rock washes, and deep sand areas.

The KOH UTV race is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25th, 2009; pre-running will start on February 23rd. The main King of the Hammers buggy race will be Friday, February 27th, with a Last Chance Qualifier Thursday, February 26th. The buggy races will include 60 LCQ competitors vying for 10 open positions in the main KOH race which will include 92 start positions.

In its 3rd year, the King of the Hammers race has quickly become an off road Halo event, with teams from all disciplines of off road motor-sports. A large spectator turn out for the race week is expected, with many teams bringing support crews and fans from all across the United States. Off road oriented vendors will be filling the main pit area, displaying their newest and greatest products for the racers and spectators alike.

While Hammer King Productions is the main promoter for this race week, W.E.ROCK is the official sanctioning body for both Hammer King Productions and Side X Side Super Jam. Side X Side Super Jam is a new UTV event promotion company formed by the founders and current operators of W.E.ROCK Events.
