Carnegie SVRA To Stay Open For Now

Source: http://www.kcra.com/news/22076348/detail.html

Off-Road Riders Protest In Tracy

Hundreds of off-road enthusiasts rallied Monday at a park protest in Tracy. They want to keep Carnegie State Park open, which was scheduled to shut down Wednesday.

On Monday afternoon, the group found out that the park would remain open until at least Jan. 11.

Lawsuits brought by two environmental groups claimed erosion caused by the vehicles pollutes Corral Hollow Creek, which runs through the park. ''People won't be here, it will be empty, a sad day for the Central Valley and people that enjoy this area,'' park supporter Don Amador said.

More than 100,000 riders use the park each year.

Bill Jennings of the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance is leading the environmental charge. ''We are saying you've got to comply with the law, that the park is not above the law," Jennings said.

On Monday, a state court of appeals agreed to look at the case and said the park can stay open until at least Jan. 11 when the case will be heard.

While the legal battle continues, riders said they just want the park to stay open. "This place is older than I am. … I think it is ridiculous," motorcyclist Bobby Agens said.

Accident in the dunes hits UTV Industry family

I am writing as a friend and fellow off roader asking you all for a little help.

A good friend of ours and friend to the off road industry Scott Mears of www.XtremeMF.com (aka XMF) was involved in a bad accident with his son in Glamis two days before Christmas. We hear this time and time again and its always bad news but it really hits home when its someone you know.

Scott and his 15 year old son Andrew both wrecked in the dust, rolling their quads off a huge razor back. Both had to be med-evaced out of Glamis in separate flights which alone are going to cost thousands.

Both had to have surgery once flown to Arizona. Andrew (Scott's son) broke both wrists, fractured both arms, and broke a leg to top it off. He had surgery to repair both arms and wrists, pins and plates have been installed. Scott blew his entire right knee out, suffering a torn ACL, PCL, MCL, etc... and also suffered a broken clavicle bone.

As you can imagine Scott feels terrible, he feels he led his son into this situation which we all know no one would ever intentionally do. He is in good spirits but the thought of his son being injured months before his 16th birthday really shook him up.

Now I know there always seems to be someone or some organization that needs our money, it is hard to keep up and most of us wish we could help them all. But like I mentioned when someone close to you gets into a situation like this you want to do all you can to help. Scott is someone who is dedicated to helping others out. He is at all the races and is always working his butt off to help his customers finish and win. The nickname I gave him on UTVUnderground is XMF PIT SLAVE because all he does is work work work on race weekends. The guy finally gets a vacation with his family and the bad luck bug bites him.

So if you can find it in your hearts and in your wallets this holiday season please donate a few bucks to this website that his been set up to help them with what is sure to be huge hospital bills.

Thanks Everyone, sorry for the long letter but I owe it to my friend to do all I can to help.
Sincerely,
Joey D.

Todd's Custom Billet Create "Goliath" People Mover using Polaris RANGER Crew

2010 Polaris RANGER CrewDecember 27, Gilbert, AZ - At the 2009 Dirt & Sand and Swap Swap in Phoenix Todd's Custom Billet unveiled their latest creation aptly named "Goliath".

They started with a brand new, six passenger, 2010 Polaris RANGER 800 CREW and gutted it down to the frame. Then they upgraded the suspension by adding their 7+" Chromolly Long Travel with Elka Shocks with reservoirs.

20" rims wrapped with 35" tires create over 21" of ground clearance and really set off the grand nature of this beast.

To gain room for the third row of seating, they removed the stock bed and cage and installed a custom full cage with a wrapped around rear panel to accommodate all 3 rows totaling seating for nine and a clean sharp look.

To set off the front end, they added a custom front bumper that has tabs to hold the two 7" HIDs which really improve night visibility. Rear bumpers are also available.

For paint they turned to the guys at CR Designs for the vibrant pearl white body and matching rear panels. The cage, suspension and bumper were powder coated a beautiful Lollipop Candy Red that really set off the pearl white paint. The custom suspension bench, bucket seats with adjustable headrests and built in billet cup holders are TCB edition seats crafted by Triple XXX.

Other items shown are aluminum billet speedo bezel, steering wheel and gas cap, which are all machined in house.

The Goliath has a top speed of over 50 MPH.

OHV Community Mourns the Passing of Don Klusman

December 24, 2009. The BlueRibbon Coalition is saddened today to learn long time partner and friend, Don Klusman, California Association of 4Wheel Drive Clubs, passed away yesterday.

Western Regional Representative for the BlueRibbon Coalition, Don Amador, said, "I've worked with Don for 15+ years on many far reaching land use issues, and today is a sad day indeed."

"I worked closely with Don on many California issues over the years," echoed Paul Turcke, legal counsel for the BlueRibbon Coalition. "We were lucky to have him."

Don Klusman served as the northern natural resource consultant for many years, as well as being an event chair and CA4WDC board member. Among the many services to the OHV community, he worked on several national forest and BLM management plans and recently completed work on a two-state advisory council subcommittee helping to develop a management plan for the Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area. Don pursued studies on the California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act. He has served on several committees for the California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division, California Back Country Discovery Trail and California Chamber of Commerce.

In offering her condolences to Don's passing, Daphne Greene, of the California State Parks OHV program, well stated, "Don was a man of integrity and honesty who cared deeply for the OHV program in California. He spent many years working to preserve OHV recreational opportunities and to protect the resources. He was committed to those individuals with whom he worked for so long. His desire to bring people together to find solutions to difficult problems was a trait admired by all. He will be deeply missed."

"Don mentored me quite a bit during my early days with Cal4," added Del Albright, BlueRibbon Ambassador who also serves as State Environmental Affairs Coordinator for CA4WDC. "Don gave me my first NEPA 101 class and helped me in the formation of the Friends of the Rubicon. His expertise and dedication will be missed."

BlueRibbon Coalition offers its condolences to Don's family. In a fitting tribute to Don's service to the OHV community, the family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the CA4WDC Jack Edwards legal fund in memory of Don Klusman.

Collier Township Police awarded new Polaris RANGER 6x6

Polaris RANGER 6x6
Source: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09358/1023183-57.stm

Thursday, December 24, 2009

The township had been patrolling its rural regions with an all-terrain vehicle it was loaned last year on a trial basis under a government program, but it decided for budgetary reasons not to buy it for $10,000.

Officer Oslick, however, found a funding source under the Operation Ranger program, which recently awarded Collier a 2010 Polaris Ranger utility terrain vehicle.

He presented the township with the key to the $15,000 vehicle at last week's meeting. The township already has the title.

The award came from U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co., of Richmond, Va., maker of Skoal tobacco, which annually gives vehicles to public safety agencies under a corporate giving program.

The company has donated about 400 off-road vehicles nationwide since the program began in 2002.

"It's definitely an asset that not too many places have," Officer Oslick said of the six-wheeled, red-and-black utility terrain vehicle, which will help responders reach Collier's outlying wooded areas as well as patrol the Panhandle Trail.

Though it drives like a car and can reach speeds up to 45 mph, Officer Oslick said, "it's pretty much like a tank." To address that, he developed a training program based on the vehicle's safety manual.

"He was so excited when it came in," said police Chief Tom Devin. He said Officer Oslick brought one of his daughters on his day off "to take everybody for a ride."

Collier outfitted the three-seat vehicle with a cab consisting of a windshield, doors and back panel to keep occupants warm and dry, and added lights, sirens and decals.

A towing hitch for up to 2,000 pounds is in the back, and the front has a winch capable of pulling 4,000 pounds. The vehicle also has toolbox loaded with 250 pounds of tools and gear.

Chief Devin said the department is looking for a trailer to transport the vehicle if it is needed in another community.

For his Operation Ranger application, Officer Oslick created a computerized presentation of Collier's terrain and trail and included information and newspaper articles about search and rescue incidents.

His application received support from U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, and state Sen. John Pippy, R-Moon.

Senator Feinstein to introduce legislation to establish 2 national monuments in Mojave Desert

Source: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-mojave21-2009dec21,0,7093884.story

December 21, 2009

The protected areas would encompass 1 million acres containing wildlife, extinct volcanoes, sand dunes and ancient petroglyphs. The senator says the bill could be enacted in late 2010.

Reporting from Barstow - Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) says she plans to introduce legislation today to establish two national monuments on roughly 1 million acres of Mojave Desert outback that is home to bighorn sheep and desert tortoises, extinct volcanoes, sand dunes and ancient petroglyphs.

Its centerpiece, Mojave Trails National Monument, would prohibit development on 941,000 acres of federal land and former railroad company property along a 105-mile stretch of old Route 66, between Ludlow and Needles.

The smaller Sand to Snow National Monument, about 45 miles east of Riverside, would cover about 134,000 acres of federal land between Joshua Tree National Park and the San Bernardino National Forest in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Its diverse habitats range from desert scrub to yellow pine forests 9,000 feet above sea level.

The legislation, which had been delayed by efforts to resolve conflicts among environmentalists, off-roaders and renewable energy interests, would also designate 250,000 acres of public land near the Army's training center at Ft. Irwin as wilderness; add 41,000 acres to the southern boundary of Death Valley National Park and add 2,900 acres to northern portions of Joshua Tree National Park.

In addition, it would designate as permanent five existing off-highway vehicle areas in San Bernardino County covering 314,000 acres.

Feinstein, author of the 1994 California Desert Protection Act, vowed to make the legislation a priority. "In the best-case scenario, this legislation could be approved by late 2010," she said in an interview.

"This magnificent land and its lonely beauty are a significant part of our history, and we shouldn't give it up," Feinstein said, adding that private donors helped acquire the former railroad parcels "with the belief they would be protected from development. We have an obligation to keep them that way."

The railroad land was purchased between 1999 and 2003 with $45 million in private donations collected by the nonprofit Wildlands Conservancy and $18 million in federal funds, then donated to the Department of the Interior.

The Bureau of Land Management is reviewing 130 applications for solar and wind-energy development in the California desert, covering more than 1 million acres of public land.

At least 19 renewable-energy projects have been suggested within the boundaries of the proposed Mojave Trails monument, according to Feinstein, who has discussed her concerns with Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

Feinstein's legislation would assist companies with projects currently proposed inside monument boundaries in relocating to federal energy zones being developed elsewhere. It would also permit construction of transmission lines within existing utility rights of way to facilitate the transfer of renewable energy generated in the Southern California desert and adjacent states.

Some congressional Republicans accused Feinstein of engaging in a not-in-my-back-yard campaign when her plans for legislation restricting renewable energy projects in California deserts surfaced earlier this year.

The senator countered that she "strongly" supports such projects, but only if they are built on "suitable" lands.

In an effort to avoid conflicts, BrightSource Energy Inc. and Stirling Energy Systems recently scrapped plans to build massive solar and wind farms on a panoramic stretch of the proposed Mojave Trails monument known as Sleeping Beauty Valley.

"We had a project within what we understand to be the boundaries of the monument, but we recently decided to withdraw it," said Sean Gallagher, Stirling's vice president of marketing strategies and regulatory issues. "We're trying to be respectful of what Sen. Feinstein has been doing in that area of the desert."

Environmentalists, hunters and off-road vehicle enthusiasts expressed support for Feinstein's legislation.

Elden Hughes, an honorary vice president of the Sierra Club, described it as "good news -- and darned important because it means this land would never be built on or fenced off."

James Conkle, founder of the Route 66 Alliance, which seeks to protect the historic route linking Chicago with Southern California, said the bill would "open up the desert to more travelers, sparking interest in fascinating, out-of-the-way places like Ludlow, Amboy and Essex."

Megan Grossglass, spokeswoman for the Off-Road Business Assn., was more cautious in her appraisal. Her group "has not had a chance to fully analyze the bill," she said, "so we cannot give it our endorsement, but we are supportive of the balanced approach it seems to take."

Mojave Trail, a four-hour drive from Los Angeles, includes such environmentally sensitive areas as Afton Canyon, a four-mile ribbon of green wetlands wedged between weathered rock walls, and Amboy Crater, a dormant volcano.

Then there is Sleeping Beauty Valley, a 150-square-mile expanse roughly 60 miles east of Barstow. It contains bighorn sheep, a newly discovered species of lupine that features showy purple blossoms in the spring, and unusually dark lizards that appear to have genetically adapted to the volcanic terrain.

During a tour of the area Sunday, David Myers, executive director of the Wildlands Conservancy, scrambled up a rocky hill at the base of a row of snaggletoothed mountains freckled with clumps of brittlebush.

"Heroic country, isn't it?" he said. "Just a few months ago, there were plans to cover this entire landscape with solar and wind farms. Instead, with this legislation, we are striking a balance with the insatiable demands of population growth."

Court Orders closure of Carnegie State Vehicle Recreation Area

LIVERMORE, CA (December 15) - In a recent court action, a judge in Alameda County has ordered a closure of one of California's State Parks. Last week, Judge Frank Roesch ordered the closure of Carnegie State Vehicle Recreation Area (SVRA) based on his own interpretation of the appropriate application of water quality standards.

Despite years of working with regulatory agencies to address issues surrounding water quality in the Corral Hollow Watershed, Judge Roesch ordered the park, located in the hills east of Livermore, closed until State Parks files and receives approval of or a waiver for a report of waste discharge from the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. This approval process could take months.

The order stems from a complaint filed by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) and the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance. The group's complaint alleged OHV activities at Carnegie SVRA are causing discharge to enter Corral Hollow Creek, which flows through the park. The creek only runs 4 to 6 weeks a year, and after leaving the park eventually runs out into an agriculture field and disappears into the ground.

"If regulatory agencies are satisfied with what the park has been doing, why does this judge in Alameda think he knows better than the environmental professionals?," asked Dave Pickett, President of American Motorcyclist Association District 36 and member of the Carnegie OHV Taskforce. "This is an attempt by special interests groups to highjack lasting collaborative solutions, and deny family recreation enjoyed by over a 100,000 visitors to this park annually. This is just flat wrong!"

For years, staff from Carnegie has been working with the Regional Water Board and nearby property owners to address water quality issues in Corral Hollow Creek, which runs through the State Park. In 2004, State Parks initiated a watershed assessment, paid for with OHV user fees, to diagnose potential issues in the watershed and design fixes. Regulatory agencies together with State Parks are identifying solutions to address problems.

"We have been working with the park to address the hill climbs in Carnegie, which have been problematic, as well as making sure the vehicles are out of the creek. But we have no control over Hetch Hetchy, who illegally performed work in the creek bed, or the munitions testing facility," said Pickett, referring to the activities of neighbors of the park. "It is troubling when the OHV community wants to work within the system and is now taking all the blame."

According to Don Amador, Western Representative for the BlueRibbon Coalition and fellow member of the Carnegie Taskforce, "If the park is forced to close, more than 100,000 park visitors will be displaced. The closure will impact other OHV recreation areas, causing overcrowding and unanticipated effects from the overload. The closure will not hasten better water quality, but is just another example of the Plaintiffs grandstanding and misusing environmental law to enact a political agenda that is anti-recreation and anti-park."

"Californians would be better served if PEER extended the hand of partnership to legitimately address the issue, rather than using the court system to close a park at a time when residents have been fighting so hard to keep State Parks open. This court decision is deeply troubling on any number of levels," Amador concludes...

BLM Proposing Significant Fee Increase at Little Sahara Recreation Area

    Little Sahara Recreation Area, Utah
Little Sahara Recreation Area, Utah - Federal officials are proposing a hefty increase in fees for users at Little Sahara Recreation Area. Nearly 300,000 enthusiasts flocked to the dunes in 2009 and BLM says they have not been collecting enough money to pay for services that are provided.

"The new plan is to try to get the revenue that we generate to approximately match the amount that we spend every year," said Glenn Carpenter with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

Under the proposal, the annual vehicle pass would jump from $75 to $120. The one-day pass, which currently costs $8 per vehicle, $10 on holidays, is being scrapped entirely.

Instead there will be a two-day pass for $25, $30 on holidays or a new seven-day pass for $40.

The BLM is accepting written comments for the next month. The new fee plan is expected to be approved in January and in effect in April.

The 2010 annual passes for Little Sahara Recreation Area went on sale in November, 2009. The cost of the first vehicle pass is $75. Additional vehicle passes are available for $50.

    About Little Sahara Recreation Area:

Little Sahara Recreation Area lies about 115 miles Southwest of Salt Lake City. The area features 60,000 acres of sand dunes, trails, and sagebrush flats. The recreation area is about 12 miles long and 10 miles wide. Sand Mountain, a wall of sand climbing nearly 700 feet, is the primary focal point for hill climbing.

The area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management - Fillmore Office.

Eleven UTVs Take on a Muddy Pala Raceway for the SXS Holiday Grand Prix

Pala RacewayPala Indian Reservation, CA December 13, 2009 - The first ever Pala Raceway SXS Holiday GP Sponsored by UTVUnderground.com, Off Road Swap Meet, ThrottleJunkie, DC Shoes, Komatsu, and No Fear went off in a big way! Saturday brought big rain to Southern California so come race day on Sunday the track was soupy and slick with good old mountain mud!

Eleven Racers showed up despite the unfavorable weather conditions and only 4 crossed the line as the muddy GP course would prove to be more than some of these guys and their machines could handle. A lineup of Yamaha Rhinos and Kawasaki Teryx's made up the field and it was a Modified Rhino that would take top honers in this years race. The track was a combination of MX Tracks and mountainous natural terrain.

Moses Modeles in his Ion Mechanical/UTVUnderground.com/Off Road Swap Meet Yamaha Rhino came across the finish line first in the Modified Class despite stalling and falling to last place on the first lap. Pala RacewayMoses or BigMoe as he is known with his stock 660 motor, HCR Long Travel, Fox Shocks, and Porkers Racing fabricated chassis clicked off the laps at a consistent pace.

Kirk Howerton in his all black and sweet looking Kawasaki Teryx blasted through the course with stock suspension and despite getting stuck in a monster mud hole and needing to be pulled out he was able to outlast the others in stock mod and pull off a big win in the first SXS GP ever held at Pala Raceway!

Pala RacewayIn all it was a really fun race to watch and the guys driving looked to be having a blast. They will have a long time to think about the event as they clean the mud out of places they never knew mud could get into!

Thank you to Pala Raceway for putting this event on such short notice. Pala is working hard to keep the UTV enthusiasts in their plans at both the facility and in future race events. If you are looking for an amazing place to take your family to go play on your dirt bikes, quads, trophy karts, and SXS's then Pala is the place! UTVUnderground.com would also like to thank OffRoadSwapMeet.com for putting up a $50 cash prize to the winner of the modified class and SDR Motorsports for putting up $250 SDR Gift Certificate to the winner in the stock mod class.

2010 Perris Auto Speedway Stadium Off Road Series Announced

Perris Auto Speedway President Don Kazarian announced today a new Off Road Series for 2010. The Perris Auto Speedway Stadium Off Road Series (PASSORS) will make its debut on February 13th and 14th and yes, Kazarian is excited about the upcoming season. “We can’t wait to debut our new series this next February,” he said on Friday morning. “This series will be similar to what we ran in 2009; however we will not be co-promoting any of the events. I want to thank both Ken and Travis from M4SX for co-promoting the events last year and I look forward to possibly working with them in the future”.

So what is going to be different in the new series? The first difference according to Kazarian is he is planning on splitting the Stadium Modified Kart class into two separate classes. “After watching the racing last year the 450’s had a significant advantage over the 250’s even with the weight rule,” he said “We are not only separating the class, we plan on running them in completely different races. Just by adding weight to the 450’s clearly does not make them equal. If you think of it, the jump from a Junior 2 Kart into a 450 is a big jump. This way if the driver is not ready for the 450 he or she can work their way up by competing in the 250 class. We hope this move will help increase the Kart counts and let the kids compete on a level playing field”.

“Secondly, we are guaranteeing a purse for the top 10 competitors in the Stadium Limited and Stadium Unlimited Pro Buggy classes. The winner of the Stadium Unlimited Pro Buggy class will walk a way with $1,000 and the winner of the Stadium Limited class will be awarded $600. We tried different payouts last year that did not get the attention of the many competitors in both these divisions. We think by guaranteeing a $4,000 purse for the Stadium Unlimited Pro class and a $2,575 purse for the Stadium Limited class we should produce full fields.” Kazarian was asked if this is the only purse change he was planning for next year? “No sir! Next year we will be paying a $550 purse to the top three in every Kart Class excluding the Junior 1 Stock Class. In addition, the Stadium Unlimited UTV class will have a guaranteed purse of $1,325.” He was also asked if this series will have Season Ending Points Champions? “Yes, each class will have a Champion crowned at the end of the year. We will be awarding Championship points in both the Qualifying Heats and the Main Events”. When asked about a points fund, Kazarian said, “Without major Sponsorship we can not guarantee a points fund at this time, but don’t count it out in the future”.

What other divisions will compete next year in PASSORS? “The Quads will be back next year with Pro, Amateur and Junior divisions. As far as the Stadium Trucks we will have an announcement soon on the specifics for this class. We have a total of 14 classes within the series”.

So how does this Series stack up against the TORC Series and the Lucas Oil Off Road Series? “This series excluding the major truck classes and television will be on the same professional level as both of those series,” Kazarian said. “This series should be one the top Off Road Short Course Series in the country. The PAS is truly one of the premier facilities in the country and the Stadium style off road racing is up close and right in your face! This series is for the whole family to enjoy. Additionally, this series is for the younger and older competitors to get seat time and experience should they choose to compete in the elite off road divisions in those two series. We want this series to be fun for all the competitors. This series will be run by a professional staff and will produce stiff competition on the different off road tracks that we build”.

You mentioned the different tracks; do you have something new for 2010? “Even though all eight rounds will be here at the PAS each track we build is different. I think we have come a long way in track construction and track prep. I have the whole off season to think about new layouts for next year. So of course, you will see something completely different than last year. One of the positives of this series is it is affordable, you do not have to travel a long distance and each track is different”.

You asked how does a potential Sponsor find out more information regarding the opportunities within this Series and The PAS? “That’s easy,” the longtime promoter said with a smile. “Contact Tanner Watson at (951) 940-0134 and she can answer any and all questions that someone might have”.

What about the racers, how do they find out more about the new series? “All the information is available on our website www.perrisautospeedway.com this includes the Event Calendar, Event Schedules, General Rules, Class Rules, Entry Fees, Race Format and Payouts. They can also call the office at (951) 940-0134.”

The Schedule consists of seven weekends with a total of eight rounds. The 2010 events dates are as follows; February 13th and 14th, March 20th, May 8th, June 5th, July 17th, August 21st and September 25th. There will be a Friday Night Practice before each event that is open to all competitors as well.

New Revolutionary M2R Quick Pack Exhaust Systems from Two Brothers Racing

Orange County, Ca - December 2009
    Two Brothers Racing® (TBR)
announced today that the final development has been completed on their all new, high performance off-road muffler system: the M2R Exhaust Canister.

Initially to be offered to motocross and off-road riders, where repacking is essential for sound and performance considerations, TBR’s M2R muffler is the first to combine Absolute Top Level® performance with Ridiculously Easy Maintenance™. Silencer re-packing can now be completed in minutes, without removing the exhaust from the bike and without having to drill out and replace pop-rivets. An industry first!

“With the M2R system, riders can easily restore their mufflers to peak performance in minutes with simple tools and zero frustration.” -Jeff Whitten, V.P.

Two Brothers’ Vice President, Jeff Whitten, has been spearheading the M2R project which has been a collaborative effort of the entire TBR management staff for over a year.

“The M2R muffler system is very exciting. With it, racers and weekend warriors alike can easily ensure their Two Brothers Racing exhaust systems are performing at the top level,” Whitten said. “The lifeblood of an efficient exhaust system is the packing. Once the packing has maxed out its lifespan, performance goes down drastically along with sound quality and muffler durability. With the M2R system, riders can easily restore their mufflers to peak performance in minutes with simple tools and zero frustration.”

Two Brothers’ M2R is the byproduct of their strategic efforts for off-road exhaust. Once an industry plagued by difficult muffler maintenance, now riders—regardless of their mechanical ability—can tackle a muffler re-pack job simply and quickly. Joel Albrecht, TBR’s Director of Research and Development says it will encourage more riders to re-pack which is a good thing for the sport.

Albrecht says: “In the ‘things-we-despise doing’ bike maintenance list, I will go so far as to say that re-packing an old muffler easily lands on top, out ranking cleaning air filters and changing tires. Most mufflers require tearing apart an exhaust canister, stuffing loose or ‘pillowed’ packing in and bolting or riveting it all back together. It’s a frustrating and messy process. With the M2R system, everything is simple. Our new packing is even shaped like the canister so it slides right in. Now, there’s no reason not to be riding at your top level!”

Two Brother’s secret is in the M2R’s modular system. All muffler re-packing is done from the end of the canister with the muffler on the bike. Behind the familiar TBR Magnesium end cap and under the unique p-series power tip is a proprietary core lock-down system that holds the outer end cap, muffler core and packing in place. Easily removed with the included tool, the spent packing slides out and a new, press-formed packing kit slides right in.

The Two Brothers Racing’s exciting new M2R system is available right now now for most major motocross and off-road machines. The first production run will be limited to 500 units and will be numbered accordingly, i.e. 1/500, 2/500 etc. Each system is built in the USA to exacting TBR standards of unmatched material and construction quality. All M2R systems seamlessly incorporate the exclusive V.A.L.E.™ attachment system. Each system is hand built in the USA.

    M2R Product Benefits::
» Preformed replacement packing core cartridge
    » On-bike replacement
» Race dB requirements easy to meet and maintain

ARCTIC CAT/BI-POLAR FINISHES THIRD OVERALL IN BEST-IN-THE-DESERT SERIES

Arctic Cat Prowler XTZ 1000 H2
Thief River Falls, Minn. (Dec. 10, 2009) – By any stretch of the imagination, the goal for Arctic Cat/ Bi-Polar Prowler race team for the 2009 race season was daunting: Compete against fully-modified UTVs in the seven-event Best-In-The-Desert (BITD) off-road race series using a stock Prowler XTZ 1000 H2. And by any measure, third place overall is an exceptional accomplishment.

“We came into this series committed to show the world that the major stock components comprising a Prowler XTZ can run with the wild, one-off creations that our competition use,” said team owner/driver Jim Creagan of Yacolt, Wash. “Aside from the required roll cage, extra lighting and King shocks, our Prowler is stock, including the engine, axles and suspension arms. That makes it very satisfying to blow past the other guys.”

While the 1000 H2 EFI engine delivered speeds the fully-modified UTVs couldn’t match, BITD races throw down wicked-rough routes of rocks, holes, ledges, drop-offs and miles of whoops.

Nevertheless, the Arctic Cat/ Bi-Polar team attacked each race in the Nevada desert with the same go-for-it attitude that delivered a 1-2 finish in last year’s Baja 1000 off-road race. Two second-place finishes in the series’ longest races proved the durability of the team and Prowler, while top-fives at other events showed their consistency. Seven races entered, seven finished for third place overall series, which is an accomplishment few teams can claim.

Just as impressive, this was the first season of racing the BITD series for the team.

“Knowing the race courses makes a huge difference,” remarked Creagan. “With a year’s experience, we’ll return next year in a better position to challenge for race wins and the series championship.”

The team’s success coupled with the Prowler’s outstanding durability was an impressive combination that drew the immediate respect of other racers.

“The Nevada desert is an unforgiving place,” said Ted Bettin, Arctic Cat ATV Race Coordinator. “For a first-year effort, to finish every race and take third overall in the series proves the best-in-class performance and durability of our machines.”

The Arctic Cat/ Bi-Polar race team is sponsored by Arctic Cat, GBC Motorsports, TrailReady Beadlock Rims, Tire Balls, Vision X Lighting, King Shocks and Dragonfire Racing

Illinois Valley Fire District gets a Polaris Ranger 6x6 for search & rescue

    Polaris Ranger 6x6

Thanks to a grant, the Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) is now the proud owner of a 2010 Polaris Ranger 6x6 utility vehicle.

IVFD Maintenance Battalion Chief Kris Sherman said that the vehicle will provide the district with “another avenue to access people in distress.”

Although the vehicle has yet to be tested and requires a trailer to transport it, IVFD personnel can use it to reach remote, mountainous areas during search-and-rescue operations. It also can be used for assisting in medical emergencies.

A stretcher can attach to the back of the vehicle, which was obtained through the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co.’s Polaris Ranger Donation Program.

The Polaris features independent center-axle suspension, a liquid-cooled 40hp engine, multiport electronic fuel injection, and seating for three adults. It’s also equipped with four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, and has a 27-inch water crossing depth, and a 7.2-inch ground clearance.

The rig also has a composite cargo box with 1,250- pound capacity, a 4,000- pound capacity winch, and a towing capacity of 1,750 pounds.

During the summer, the Polaris can be used to send spotters to get a closer look at fire lines.

Lasher Motorsports Kawasaki Teryx Finishes the BITD Season in Second

With the season coming to an end with the completion of the Best in the Desert Henderson Fabtech Classic this past weekend the Lasher Motorsports team has finished the year on a high note. The team finished a respectable fourth place out of 9 cars in the field which gave them a second place in the points standings for the year.

The plan for the Henderson race was to take it slow and easy. As long as the car could finish, the team would sustain a third spot in the season points battle. Mike Lasher and Rick “Wally World” Wallace battled cold weather as the thermometer only read 22 degrees when they started the race. Along with the cold weather, blinding dust made for a slow first lap as to make sure the car didn't get damaged. The team ran the race without a hitch completing two 60 mile laps in just under four hours giving them a fourth place finsih. The 60 mile course was filled with boulders silt and sand! The terrain proved to be no mach for the ITP wheels and tires as they were pushed through the desert with ease from the power of the Lockmann Precision built Muzzys motor.

2009 marked the first year that the team ran a complete season consisting of 7 races in the grueling deserts of Arizona and Nevada. Tackling such race as Vegas to Reno “the long way,” the Silver State 300, and the Parker 250 the Kawasaki Teryx built by Side X Side Outfitterz saw over 1800 race miles during the season and was able to finish every single race. With the 1924 Kawasaki Teryx piloted by Mike Lasher and Rick Wallace they were able to obtain a second spot for the Best in the Desert season amongst some great competition. 1924 Lasher Kawasaki Teryx

The team at Lasher Motorsports would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the people and companies that made this year so successful and look forward to another great year in 2010! The six race 2010 Best in the Desert season kicks off January 8-10, 2010 in Parker, Arizona.

Sponsors of the 1924 Lasher Motorsports Kawasaki Teryx include Pro Armor, Hostyle Racing, Side X Side Outfitterz, Wally World Designs, Fox Shox, CST Performance, ITP Tires, K &N, Lockmann Precision, Muzzys, OMF Performance, UTV Guide, Beard Seats, Simpson, Billet King, and UTV Underground.

    KYMCO’s Expanding Four-Wheel Product Line for 2010

The grounds of the historic Biltmore Estate served as a grand setting for KYMCO USA’s introduction of its 2010 two-wheel and four-wheel product lines. More than two dozen motorsports industry journalists attended the September 22-25 events.

Selected for its excellent combination of scenery and riding opportunities, the 8,000-acre estate in the North Carolina mountains is the historic home of George W. Vanderbilt with Biltmore House, the largest privately owned home in the country, as its centerpiece. Overnight accommodations and hospitality were provided by KYMCO USA at the nearby Grand Bohemian luxury hotel.

The journalists had access to nearly the company’s entire U.S. product line – and KYMCO USA will be offering 17 two-wheel models and 11 four-wheel models for 2010.

Completely new for the U.S. market are the Like 50, a scooter with vintage Euro styling, and the Maxxer 375 4x4, which blurs the line between sport and utility ATVs. KYMCO is also introducing new versions of existing models, including Limited Editions of the UXV 500 4x4, MXU 375 4x4 IRS and MXU 500 4x4 IRS.

For the Biltmore Estate event, KYMCO created separate schedules for journalists based on whether they review for two-wheel or four-wheel enthusiasts.

Activities held September 22-23 for the two-wheel journalists included scooter rides and photo/video opportunities on the Biltmore Estate grounds, as well as an afternoon ride along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. Larger and mid-size models were used for the Parkway ride, while several of KYMCO’s popular 50cc scooter models were available for side-by-side comparison rides over a closed course on the grounds.

During their own two days in Asheville, September 24-25, editors reviewing KYMCO USA’s four-wheel lineup had access to 70+ miles of trails that make up the Biltmore’s own Land Rover Experience Driving School course. Winding through a largely agricultural part of the estate not typically open to guests, the course passes through vineyards, fords streams and provides steep descents, side-hill traverses and uphill climbs that offer views of nothing but sky.

In addition to the magazine reviewers, representatives of leading industry-insider and dealer publications also attended.

The complete KYMCO USA executive team was on hand to meet with the journalists, organize in test rides, and answer questions on the spot. KYMCO USA president and CEO Eric Bondy was available for one-on-one interviews, and at the introductory press conference, he introduced a special guest from the parent company KYMCO in Taiwan, Senior Vice President Mr. Kou-Chang Su, for his perspective.

    KYMCO’s Expanding Four-Wheel Product Line

On the four-wheel side, the big news for 2010 is the Maxxer 375 IRS 4x4. Weighing in at 452 pounds, the Maxxer 375 is outfitted with KYMCO’s proven automatic CVT transmission, maintenance free sealed shaft final drive, shift on the fly 2WD and 4WD, independent dual A-arm suspension front and back, hydraulic dual discs in front with a single disc in back, and 12-inch alloy wheels helping achieve 10 inches of ground clearance.

The Maxxer 375 will be available in black, red, blue and white with special graphics package options designed to appeal mainly to female riders.

In a first, KYMCO USA has introduced 2010 LE (Limited Edition) models of the UXV 500 4x4, MXU 375 4x4 IRS and MXU 500 4x4 IRS. Seizmik has added the Versa-Shield split windshield to its UTV line

RALEIGH, NC- Seizmik has added the Versa-Shield, a high-performance split windshield designed to allow the rider to configure the windshield based on weather conditions or driver preference to its extensive line of UTV accessories. The Versa-shield is three windshields in one. It can be quickly configured without tools as a full windshield, lower half windshield or upper half windshield. When configured as a full windshield, the Versa-Shield provides the rider with full protection from the elements including superior eye and face protection. In the lower half windshield configuration the Versa-Shield deflects the air down, away from the rider's face, creating a more comfortable open air riding experience. The upper half windshield configuration is perfect for dusty trails because it pressurizes the cab, keeping dust out while allowing air into the cab.

Seizmik has a Versa-Shield model for the 2009-2010 Polaris Ranger XP, Kawasaki Teryx, and the Yamaha Rhino. Got a hardtop? No problem, the Versa-Shield works with all hardtops and Seizmik accessories. The Versa-Shield can be configured on the fly in under a minute without tools thanks to Seizmik's quik-twist knobs. Seizmik uses only rust-proof hardware in its accessories.
The Versa-Shield is great addition to Seizmik's ever expanding selection of indestructible UTV accessories. Before you tear up the trails, try combining the Versa-Shield with a Seizmik cab enclosure for complete protection from the elements. Check out Seizmik's website at www.seizmik.com for a complete rundown of Seizmik's extensive selection UTV accessories.

New Aluminum Bed for Kawasaki Teryx Saves Weight

    Kawasaki Teryx Aluminum Bed

The stock steel bed Kawasaki Teryx bed is approximately 95 lbs. and built to take some serious punishment. Many recreational users are finding that removing the bed can really improve performance. Now the folks over at LoneStar Racing have created an aluminum replacement for everyone that wants to lose the weight, but still wants to be able to use their bed for light duty carrying.

LoneStar Racing's new aluminum bed delete kit is about 25 lbs, so that gives you a weight savings of about 70 lbs, which is a lot for an already underpowered UTV.

    Kawasaki Teryx Aluminum Bed

The new bed ships in parts to lower shipping costs, and it needs to get assembled with the supplied rivets in the pre-cut holes.

It mounts to the Teryx frame the exact same way the stock bed does, and you just have to transfer over the front mounting brackets, fenders, dust guards, wheel wells, tail lights, and fenders.

Its precision cut using CNC lasers, and precision formed using CNC press brakes for perfect fitment, and no hassling with having to line up holes etc.

The LSR aluminum bed comes with all the parts you need to install, and you will have to have a rivet installation tool, which can be purchased for very low costs at most places tools are sold at. The bed was designed to fit together very similar to the stock steel bed, to help assembly.

It comes in raw aluminum finish, and custom powdercoating is available for an extra charge. For long travel users, we also offer wheel well covers for a cleaner look.

Retail price is $425, and the part number is 51-125210

More information can be found on the LoneStar Racing website at: www.lsracing.com or www.lsracingsidexside.com or by calling Toll-Free: 800-457-7223.

2009 SCORE Desert Series Points Champions Named

    SCORE

NASCAR’s R. Gordon wins Overall & SCORE Trophy-Truck Point Championship in five-race 2009 SCORE Desert Series
    Johnson wins Overall Motorcycle crown, Christy claims Overall ATV title;
SCORE Awards Night Saturday at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas

LOS ANGELES—Closing the books on the 36th year of the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Series and capping a triumphant return to desert racing on a full-time basis for the first time since 1996, NASCAR Cup team owner/driver Robby Gordon has earned the SCORE Overall and SCORE Trophy-Truck point championship for the five-race 2009 SCORE Desert Series.

Gordon will receive his awards Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas during the annual SCORE Awards Night celebration honoring the 2009 SCORE Desert Series point champions, the winners of the 2009 SCORE Off-Roadsman of the Year awards and the 14 recipients of the 2009 SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards.

Amassing 424 total points, Gordon, 40, who returns to his desert racing roots as often as his NASCAR schedule allows which is every race this year, secured his first SCORE Overall point championship and his second in the marquee SCORE Trophy-Truck class for high-tech, 800-horsepower, unlimited production trucks in his No. 77 Team Gordon Chevy CK1500.

While assuming a big lead in the 2009 SCORE Desert Series point standings, Gordon, who lives in Charlotte, N.C., actually missed the NASCAR Cup race in Richmond on Sept. 12 to run in the SCORE race in Primm in his quest for the season championship. In 2009, Gordon earned his eighth and ninth career SCORE Trophy-Truck race wins along with one second, one fifth and one seventh in the five-race season.

Winning the SCORE Class 10 season point championship with four race wins in a Lothringer-VW, Mike Lawrence, Banning Calif., finished second in SCORE overall points behind Gordon with 400 points for his second straight SCORE Class 10 season title.

“SCORE is the last, if not the last it’s the best endurance racing series in the World!” proclaimed Gordon, a second generation desert racer. “Where you’re allowed to use both imagineering and engineering to make your vehicle the absolute best it can be. It’s so rare in motorsports today for teams to use their creativity to produce a vehicle that works for their driver or team, it makes for some really great racing and cool concepts and SCORE is a perfect example of that. I hope SCORE never changes to a spec series like NASCAR, Indy Car or F1. I’m so thankful to be a part of a series that allows the teams and drivers to choose what they want to create. It reminds me of what the Indy 500 was in the 60's and 70's. SCORE is definitely a very special series and for Robby Gordon Off-Road to build the fastest most reliable desert-racing truck in the world makes me very proud. Being the 2009 SCORE Overall and SCORE Trophy-Truck season point champion means a lot to me both personally and professionally.”

The 2009 SCORE Desert Series featured two races in Southern Nevada and three in Baja California, Mexico, covering a total of 1,713.76 vehicle-pounding, body-punishing rugged race miles. During the five-race series, a total of 578 different racers started at least one race.

The challenging 2009 season began with the 15th Annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge in January and ended with the 42nd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 in November. The season-ending granddaddy of all desert races had the largest field of the year with 328 starters competing in 30 Pro and 6 Sportsmen classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs.

Wilson Motorsports of Long Beach, Calif., with Randy Wilson as the driver of record, won the unlimited Class 1 season point title in a Chevy-powered Jimco open-wheel desert race car while finishing eighth in the 2009 SCORE Overall point standings.

After also contending for the season title in another Class 1 car until a dnf in the SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300 in September, Randy Wilson’s brother Ronny joined his brother in Baja to finish third in Class 1 in the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 to help Wilson Motorsports capture the season championship with consistency, even though Randy did not win a race.

In earning the first SCORE Class 1 season championship for Wilson Motorsports, Randy Wilson had two thirds, two sixths and one eighth-place finish to capture the title as well as his first SCORE Toyota Milestone Award for completing every required mile of the season.

Eric Duran, Tecate, Calif., driver of record for his family team entered the season-finale in a close third in points but with an impressive victory, captured the Class 1-2/1600 in with 397 points in a Neth-VW to finish in third in overall points for the season.

SCORE points are based on starting and finishing as well as the number of starters in each class and placement position in every race.

Fourth in overall points for the year and second in Class 1-2/1600 just one point behind the Durans was Brian Wilson, Long Beach, Calif., nephew of Randy and Ronny Wilson and part of the third generation of Wilson Motorsports racers. Brian Wilson, who had driving help from Las Vegas’ Sammy Ehrenberg in a Kreger-VW had entered the season finale tied with Justin Smith and just missed the championship when the Durans won the race and Wilson finished second.

Smith, San Clemente, Calif., who won two races in his class this season, finished third in Class 1-2/1600 for the year and fifth in overall points with 386 in a Fraley-VW.

Finishing fourth in Class 1-21/600 and sixth in overall points was Cody Robinson, El Centro, Calif., in a TL-VW.

Earning his fifth consecutive season point championship in Class 7 in a Ford Ranger, Dan Chamlee, Carpenteria, Calif., won four races in 2009 while finishing seventh in overall points.

Tied for eighth in overall points for 2009 with Randy Wilson, SCORE Lite season point champion Brent Parkhouse, Long Beach, Calif., won two races in a Moulton-VW.

Finishing the year second in Class 1 just three points behind Randy Wilson, All German Motorsports teammates Armin Schwarz of Germany and Martin Christensen, Escondido, Calif. (Denmark) drove a Jimco-BMW to one race win and a 10th place in the final 2009 SCORE Overall point standings.

One of two female regular racers this season, Heidi Steele, San Clemente, Calif., used a season-ending win in the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 to claim the Class 6 point crown in the Desert Assassins Ford Ranger. She also won a SCORE season point title last year was in Class 7SX and has one Class 6 race win this year. Steele’s husband Cameron Steele was fourth in the final 2009 SCORE Trophy-Truck points.

Among the 2009 SCORE point champions in car and truck classes are: John Holmes, Olivenhain, Calif. (Class 7SX, Ford Ranger), Clyde Stacy, Bristol, Va.. (Class 8, Chevy Silverado), Donald Moss, Sacramento, Calif. (Class 3, Ford Bronco), Kevin Carr, San Deigo (Class 5, unlimited VW Baja Bug), Alonso Angulo, Ensenada, Mexico (Class 5/1600, 1600cc VW Baja Bug), Justin Matney, Briston, Tenn. Arizona Dirt and Sand Expo and Arizona Motorcycle Expo December 12th & 13th

PHOENIX, AZ – DECEMBER 3, 2009: The Arizona Dirt & Sand Expo has combined with the Arizona Motorcycle Expo at the Arizona State Fairgrounds for one big show the weekend of December 12th and 13th. With the economic state, the promoters AZ Expos, Inc have changed the structure from a formal show to a SuperSwap with very affordable $100 booth prices. The show area is full, limited spaces available.

AZ Expo has opened up booth spaces to all companies and the general public that would like to sell their new and used off-road parts and accessories as part of the SuperSwap. All booth spaces are just $100 for a 9x17. Sign up for one space, or multiple to fit your trailer or products. All booth spaces are outdoors with AZ December weather being historically pleasant. Companies and SuperSwap Vendors please reserve your spots now by calling 480-899-6458, or contact Charlene@BowerMedia.com with questions.

“As many of you know, I produce these events because of my love for the Powersports community,” said Andy Myers. “I am fully aware of the brutal economy we live in and it is for that reason I am changing this event dramatically. Businesses and spectators are encouraged to display their used goods to sell at this event. This is an open format expo.” To encourage attendance, AZ Expo Inc has also dropped the entry cost to $10, with kids under 12 free and have added limited free parking.

The Arizona Dirt & Sand Expo has a 7 year track record of being the largest off-road show in Arizona, then combine that with the 6 year running of the Arizona Motorcycle Expo and they are teamed up for success. This is traditionally a buyers show with it being two weeks before Christmas. The timing makes it a great show to get gifts for family and friends and also a great time for you to raise extra cash for the holiday!

The TORC Series and its sponsors will honor the Sportsman Class Champions as well as recognize the 2nd and 3rd place winners. Crandon Raceway organizers will also be awarding their World Champions that took place at the 40th Anniversary Celebration on Labor Day weekend.

"We appreciate these racers so much for supporting TORC in our first year," said Ricky Johnson "These guys have done so much for the series and the sport, many times with little or no sponsorship support. Dragonfire Racing Kawasaki Teryx™ Dominates at Baja 1000

Irvine, Calif. (November 30, 2009) – The Dragonfire Racing Kawasaki Teryx won its second Baja event of the year in the Sportsman UTV class, under the guidance four veteran drivers during the 42nd running of the Baja 1000. The RUV, piloted by Team Green™ Manager Reid Nordin, Hans Waage, Todd Romano, and Baja legend Larry Roeseler, was a stand out amongst its competitors, coming in ahead of several classes that had started hours before the Teryx.

    Kawasaki Under the Tent

    Year of the Teryx
After a dominating win at the Baja 500 in June, Kawasaki and Dragonfire teamed up once again for the big Baja 1000. Like their success at the Baja 500, the Teryx finished with time to spare in their allotted time to complete the race.

“All in all it was a pretty uneventful race,” said Nordin. “A lot can go wrong and we only had one flat. We did get stuck in some silt, but that didn’t really put us back too much. It was probably the roughest Baja I had ever seen. The average speeds were well below normal. Our time ended up being fast enough to podium in seven other classes, so we were really happy with how we ran overall.”

Teryx Is Up For The Challenge
With 2009 being the first year the Kawasaki Teryx has competed in Baja, the RUV has already made a name for itself amongst its competitors who have been racing for several years.

“Being that the Teryx is 4-wheel drive, it has assisted us in some of the more difficult sections like the "Summit" and the silt beds of Laguna Salada,” said Nordin. “The torque and durability of the V-Twin 750 engine has already proven its durability and has raised the bar once again. The Nessy (the teams name for the Teryx) is built on the Teryx chassis platform, so it certainly isn't a ground-up race car like most we beat in many other classes.”

    Hard Work Pays Off
The team put in countless hours of preparation into running both the Baja 500 and the Baja 1000 and the partnership between Kawasaki and Dragonfire Racing has been a victorious one.

“I am really proud of what we have accomplished this year,” said Nordin. “It has been great to work with the Dragonfire crew. We all worked really hard to make sure the Teryx was ready for a big challenge like Baja. I think we proved that the machine is the one to beat in 2010.”

    Great Driver Combination
With winning drivers Nordin and Waage returning, and veteran Baja drivers Romano and Roeseler, the teams’ chances looked good from the start. The experience that all these drivers brought to the team helped make the win possible.

“We went to Mexico with only one intention and that was to win the Baja 1000,” said Todd Romano, Dragonfire owner. “Many people only go to Baja to say they were able to finish, but we went in with a plan to win. Baja is a love-hate relationship, and I love hating Baja.”

    Support Vs. Driving
Nordin’s history with Baja goes back to the start of the event in 1967 when his father won his class with Nordin present. Since that start, he has been a part of numerous winning teams and now can add winning driver to his Baja resume.

“I have been fortunate to be involved with a lot of Baja victories,” said Nordin. “To win as a driver is a totally different feeling than as the support staff. My dad won a production two-wheeled drive class in 1967 and now I can be with him in the record books, so that is a cool feeling for me.”

Baja Designs Recognized at the 2009 SEMA Show

Baja Designs introduced three exciting new products and walked away with four awards at SEMA this year. The new Strykr 700 Lumen LED Adventure Light was awarded first runner up for "Best New Powersports Product". Each of Baja Designs three new products was chosen by an international media outlet and recognized at the SEMA global media awards.
    • First Runner-up for "Best New Powersports Product" - Strykr LED Adventure Light
    • Global Media Award "Best New Product" by ARL (New Zealand) - LED Dome/Rock Light
    • Global Media Award "Best New Product" by ARL (New Zealand) - Strykr LED Adventure Light
    • Global Media Award "Best New Product" by Experiencia 4x4 (Argentina) - Kwik Jak CO2 Powered Jack

Strykr LED Adventure Light - Featuring Mil Spec construction, the Strykr is as durable as it looks. It was designed to survive both our troops serving in the Middle East and the most serious off-road racers. Oh, did we mention that the whole system is also waterproof to 33ft (10m)? At only 520 grams the system is also incredibly lightweight. It offers 3 levels of brightness and a strobe mode. The battery burn time ranges from 3 hours on high brightness to 24 hrs in strobe mode with a very visible green/yellow/red battery indicator level around the conveniently located switch. Of course, the switch is easily operated even with gloves on..

LED Dome/Rock Light - Extremely small yet 1 ½ times brighter than competitor’s larger 15 LED units. It is waterproof and can be mounted anywhere. It has a 360 degree optic to illuminate your cab, engine bay, wheel wells or anywhere you need a super bright, super smooth light!

The Baja Designs Dome Light is available with or without an integrated switch and in tube mount or panel mount versions. If desired the tube mount versions can even be installed using a zip tie – no drilling required. Its simple two wire installation will have you on the trails in no time.

Billet Aluminum Kwik Jak™ - At only 4.5 lbs, the billet aluminum Kwik Jak™ is lightweight but performs like its heavy duty cousins. It is powered by standard 3/8-24 CO2 cartridges and can lift up to 2400 lbs. in just seconds. Its collapsed height adjusts from an easily stowable 12.5” up to 18.5” and it has a 6” stroke.

Multiple jack pad configurations allow the Kwik Jak™ to work on almost any vehicle. Another benefit of the jack it that it fits in a standard race car fire extinguisher mount for easy accessibility on tube frame vehicles. Kits are also available to adapt the jack to your on-board CO2 system or to use larger refillable CO2 canisters.

Scorpion’s VX-9 Off-Road Helmet is Designed Just For Kids

Scorpion’s Impact VX-9 youth helmetLake Forest, CA November 24, 2009 — Rug rats rejoice! Scorpion’s VX-9 youth helmet offers all the features and benefits of its VX-14 off-road older brother, but made specifically to fit kid-sized craniums. Knowing how fast mini riders can grow, one helmet can be transformed from small to medium to large simply by changing the snap-out inner liner.

In addition to the perfect fit, the VX-9 maximizes protection as the polycarbonate composite shell combined with Scorpion’s state-of-the-art dual density EPS liner to absorb maximum energy. In fact, this combination meets or exceeds all DOT safety standards.

Above and beyond passing the protection test, Scorpion’s washable KwikWick® moisture-wicking comfort liner keeps young riders cool no matter how hot the action is on the MX track. Speaking of cool, dual forehead air intakes and twin exhaust ports ensure plenty of airflow. While they were at it, the Scorpion engineers also redesigned the nose roost shield to flow more air without skimping on protection. In addition to the revised nose roost shield, the goggle/eye port area was expanded to enhance visibility.

Scorpion’s Ray Gun VX-9 youth helmet

Capping off all the technical improvements off, the “Impact” design now matches the big boys helmets in Scorpion’s product range, however kids can also choose the cool Ray Gun graphics. The new VX-9 is available in Red or Blue Impact color schemes or the exclusive black and white Ray Gun graphics. Best of all, Scorpion offers a full three-year warranty on the VX-9, same as its full-sized helmets!
    MSRP: $99. 95
