New Polaris RZR 170 Accessories Add Style and Safety

Holland, MI– Racer Tech announced the official release of their brand new product line of fabricated accessories for the Polaris RZR 170, otherwise known as the Mini RZR. Continuing the mindset of blending aesthetics, quality and function, Racer Tech has hit another home run.

The current offerings of true bolt-on accessories include roll cages, bumpers, nerf bars, doors, chassis braces, stainless steel grill kits and a simple kit for converting to a 4-point harness system. All components are fabricated in-house in quality production fixtures by skilled fabricators. Still to come, Racer Tech is currently developing a suspension system as well.

The roll cages are available in a standard height configuration as well as a lowered version. Racer Tech was the first in the UTV industry to offer a true rigid mount front bumper for the full size RZR and the new version for the little RZR will be no exception. This bumper ties all known weak points in the front chassis together very effectively in a light weight configuration. The rear bumper follows with an optional chassis brace for the rear lower section of the frame to protect against damage in a rear-end accident situation. Nerf bars are available as well as door and door bars to protect the little ones in the event of a side impact situation. Racer Tech teamed with Crow Enterprizes of Anaheim, CA to offer a custom 4-point harness configuration which utilizes automotive-style buckle systems to simplify the fastening of the kids. All products are currently in production and are currently available for sale to the public or dealers.

Yamaha Wins First Rhino Lawsuit; Jury Finds No Product Defect

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., Statement on Ray vs Yamaha Trial Verdict in Orange, TX
Jury finds no product defect with Yamaha Rhino
CYPRESS, Calif. – August 27, 2009 – Yamaha is saddened whenever anyone is injured in a Yamaha product-related accident, and we urge all our customers to follow the safety recommendations on our products and, as importantly, to always operate the products in a safe and responsible manner.
The jury’s decision to reject the plaintiff’s claims and award no damages in this case is appropriate. The jury made a decision based on the facts. The testimony and evidence during the trial showed that this tragic accident had nothing to do with the design of the product. Yamaha’s top priority is and always has been the safety of our customers, and we pride ourselves on the safety and quality of our products.
This accident demonstrates the importance of following the safety guidelines posted on the vehicles and the owner’s manuals. Rhinos are designed for off-road use only, and the vehicle is only recommended for adult drivers aged 16 or older with a valid driver’s license. Passengers must be large enough to keep their backs against the seat backs with both feet firmly on the floorboard. Drivers and passengers should wear helmets and the vehicle’s three-point seat belts at all times.
"Yamaha stands firmly behind the Rhino as a safe and useful off-road vehicle and will continue to vigorously defend the product. To learn more about the Yamaha Rhino, visit our website www.truthaboutrhino.com", Van Holmes, Public Relations Manager, ATV & SXS Department, Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A.

New Filter for Kawasaki Teryx Available from Unique Metal Products

Oceanside, CA - Following its widely popular intake kit for the Polaris RZR, Unique Metal Products, Inc (UMP) is proud to announce another kit in its line of SUPERFILTER's for the Kawasaki Teryx. Designed for maximum engine protection, the kits for both the carbed and fuel injected models will keep the sophisticated and expensive to repair engines for the Teryx running strong for years to come. Today's UTV's are not like your Dad's two stroke dirt bike of years past where you'd throw a new ring in it every season or so, they are powerful overhead cammed, twin cylinder, water cooled, complicated, and hard to work on power plants that can cost thousands of dollars to rebuild. The hand crafted and light weight aluminum UMP

SUPERFILTER kits are designed to be a bolt in kit (some plastic cutting per supplied template is required) and supplied with a Donaldson element that provides an industry leading 99.99% dust retention, something no oiled cleanable filter can match. Kits for both the carbed and fuel injected models relocate the intake to the filter in a cleaner, cooler location for
increased filter life and performance. Many of our RZR customers are running an entire season with no filter maintenance due to the self cleaning action of the UMP SUPERFILTER, instead of cleaning their filter every
weekend like oiled filters may require and getting maximum engine protection as a bonus! Of course at some point the replaceable element will need to be changed but is easily done and restores engine performance back to like new
instead of taking off some engine life on every trip like other filters can do.

Part Number :

  • 10938 for 2008 Carburated Kawasaki Teryx
  • 10939 for 2009 Fuel Injected Teryx

MSRP = $295.00

Minneapolis, August 26, 2009 –For the third year in a row, Jagged X and their No. 1919 RANGER RZR S dominated Best in the Desert’s “Vegas to Reno, The Long Way” race. The No. 1919 desert race team not only finished but took first place honors in what is credited as being the longest off road race in the United States. The team finished the race in 30 hours and 29 minutes, 15 minutes faster than the second place finisher.

The Jagged X RANGER RZR S was piloted by driver of record, Brandon Schueler and Blake Van de Loo, along with navigators Chad Riccio and Mike West. The No. 1919 started in the fourth position on Thursday prepared to take on the first 332 mile stage. Day two and three were much the same and in the end, the Jagged X RANGER RZR S ended up first across the line completing the grueling 1000-mile course and taking the top honors for the third year in a row.

In addition to winning the UTV class, Jagged X also managed to finish ahead of several other classes in the overall standings including the 1700 Jeepspeed and the new 4400 Ultra 4 class. Vision X Lighting has created the first CPU Powered LED Smart Light

Algona, WA– (08/17/2009) Vision X Lighting has created the most versatile lighting system in the world, the XIL-M1. Engineered and manufactured in the U.S.A the XIL-M1 is commonly referred to as the Patriot Smart Light. The XIL-M1 has the world’s most powerful 32 bit microcontroller integrated in the housing. The primary function of the micro controller is to monitor the core thermal temperature of the light, which will ensure no matter what environment the light fixture is placed in the light fixture will function effectively and correctly emitting 10800 lumens for 50 000 hours. If the circuit board temperature rises above 75 degrees Celsius the LED’s will automatically dim 10% allowing the circuit board to cool.

The XP-M1 is the building block for the future of lighting. Vision X will be able to integrate any function there is a demand for into the light, by simply programming the microcontroller. If there is a demand for the light to flash at 4 Hz, or if there is a demand for the light to dim at sunrise to conserve energy, no problem, we simply program the microcontroller. An analogue dimming switch can also be used by the end user to control dimming of the light.

This light has electronic efficiency of 94.5% and optical efficiency of 94% which makes the XIL-M1 the most efficient light ever built. The XIL-M1 will accept 9-32 volts DC and puts out an amazing 10800 lumens while only drawing 10 amps at 12 volts. 110 volt Ac input which encloses a power inverter on a custom bracket is available.

Manufactured out of 6061 billet aluminum and using only Mil-Spec parts there is no better built light in the world. The fixture is machined with vertical fins on the heat sink for improved heat dissipation and the circuit board is made utilizing 4oz copper which is then pressure fitted against the heat sink. This forces the heat generated by the LED to evenly dissipate with no thermal hot spots allowing each LED to function exactly the same. The complete Fixture is engineered to distribute the weight evenly so the light will be perfectly balanced. The bracket will allow for 360 degree rotation and solid mounting locking the housing into any position.

Holz/Kroyer Racing Engines Polaris Stage 3 Kit Now Available

Bolt On 70-Horsepower on Pump Gas for Your Polaris RZR

Lynden, WA (August 19, 2009) Unlock the power potential of your Polaris RZR/S with the all-new Kroyer Racing Engines Motor packages offered by Holz Racing Products. Experience race proven performance and pump gas reliability with no loss of drivability.

The Kroyer Stage 3 motor kit just might be the most complete engine kit available for the Polaris RZR. Starting with the ported head that has been expertly machined on a 5 axis CNC and outfitted with oversize valves and springs – the head sits atop a Big-Bore Cylinder with matching 11:1 compression pistons. The cylinder also has been CNC bored and coated with Nickel Silicon Carbide cylinder coating (Nikasil). Complementing the ported head and larger valves is a billet CNC machined Hi-Lift/Duration Cam with stout chromoly push rods and hydraulic lifters. Fuel is fed through a 46mm bored throttle body and a billet aluminum intake manifold. Also included is a new adjustable PRV (oil pressure relief valve), which will help ensure that your new motor parts are bathed regularly in Joe Gibbs Racing oil. Topping it all off is a gasket kit, clutch kit, ECU ignition upgrade, break-in oil and filter, and new iridium spark plugs.

The Stage 2 kit is nearly identical to the Stage 3 kit, with the exception of its bore size. The Stage 2 kit utilizes the stock cylinder/bore and includes a pair of stock bore (80 mm) 11:1 pistons.

Also available is the Muzzys Performance Stainless Dual Exhaust System. Coupled with the Kroyer motor kit, the Muzzys exhaust gained an additional 7 HP over the stock RZR-S exhaust, just cresting the 70hp mark for crank HP. (See Dyno chart for comparison)

With impressive dyno results, easy to use reliable power and a proven track record, The Kroyer motor kits from Holz are enough to make a die-hard turbo guy sweat.

Each kit was designed and built for the ‘regular’ guy. While the Kroyer motor has proven to be very competitive on the racetrack, it hasn’t lost the simplicity and durability that you get with a pump gas, natural aspirated motor. Holz and Kroyer have addressed every variable so that there is no guesswork involved. We’ve calibrated the fuel, timing and clutching for you. Follow the detailed instructions included in the kit; forget the guesswork and experience hassle free power from Kroyer Racing Engines and Holz Racing Products.

The Kroyer Racing Engines Stage 3 and 2 Kits were developed by Kroyer Racing Engines and are distributed solely by Holz Racing Products. Both Kits are in stock now and ready to ship. Holz Billet Roller Cage for Polaris RZR now Available

Replace Your Plastic Stock Cage with Our Pre-Assembled Billet Cage

Lynden, WA (July 9, 2009) The innovations from Holz Racing Products (HRP) keep on coming and this time its in the form of a race proven billet roller cage for the Polaris RZR/RZR-S, 2009 Ranger XP and Sportsman 800 front differential. Constructed from aerospace grade aluminum treated with military spec hard coat anodizing, this precision-machined cage replaces the stock plastic RZR cage, which is prone to failure even under normal driving conditions. What’s more, the new Holz Billet Roller Cage out-performs other replacement designs thanks to twice the tensile strength of competitive 6061-T6 aluminum cages.

Going one step further, the Holz Billet Cage is the only RZR front differential replacement on the market that comes fully assembled with new rollers and springs. Competitive designs require the reuse of stock rollers and springs. Not only does this create confusion of the proper orientation of parts when reassembling the cage, but also the reuse of factory springs is not recommended as it can stress the springs once again causing premature failure.

Get the only aftermarket differential roller cage available that is hard anodized for better wear and lubricity and is pre-assembled with new rollers and springs… the Holz Billet Roller Cage. But don’t stop there; further beef up your front differential with the addition of a Holz Billet Pinion Flange, a recommended upgrade for any RZR and the perfect compliment to the HRP Billet Roller Cage, only $49.95 and in stock now!

The Holz Billet Roller Cage comes standard with a 2-year part replacement warranty.

In stock now and ready to ship. Simply log on to www.holzracingproducts.com today and experience improved performance with your Polaris RZR or RZR-S with the HRP Billet Roller Cage. MSRP: $399. For technical assistance call a Holz Racing Products technician at 360-398-7006.

Polaris RANGER HD Named Best of the Best by Field & Stream Magazine

Minneapolis, Aug. 19, 2009 – Polaris Industries today announced the RANGER HD has been awarded “Best of the Best” by “Field & Stream” Magazine. “Field & Stream” also named the vehicle one of the “Best Off-Road Rides for 2009” in a previous issue.
“Polaris would like to thank ‘Field & Stream’ for naming the RANGER HD as the ‘Best of the Best,’” said Jan Rintamaki, marketing director of the Off-Road Division for Polaris. “It’s an honor to have the world’s leading outdoor magazine recognize the RANGER HD as a premier product for its readership.”
Built for ultra heavy-duty work applications, Polaris introduced the RANGER HD as part of its 2009 model year line-up. The vehicle has all the new RANGER features plus an exclusive Self-Leveling Suspension and Variable Assist Power Steering. The RANGER HD was introduced with Nivomat® shocks making it the first-ever Self-Leveling Suspension on a utility vehicle. When carrying heavy loads, the shocks automatically adjust the suspension resulting in the highest loaded ground clearance of any utility vehicle. Due to a lower spring rate, the Nivomats provide a smoother ride and the ability to go long distances at 50 MPH fully-loaded, making hauling loads quicker and easier.

For easier steering during heavy-duty work applications, RANGER HD also features power steering with exclusive Variable Assist. RANGER HD’s power steering allows for one-finger steering at low speeds and eliminates feedback at high speeds so the operator can work longer and enjoy the ride. The system is perfect for plowing as well as the new BOSS® Lift & Carry System that attaches to the front of the RANGER HD and can lift and carry up to 500 lbs.

Outdoor enthusiasts can see the RANGER HD in “Field & Stream’s” Gear of the Year, September, 2009 issue which is available on stands now.

Polaris to Sponsor Robby Gordon Race Weekend

Robby Gordon - No. 007 TORC Chevy Silverado

Two tracks, two series, two states, one weekend

Minneapolis, August 14, 2009 – Labor Day Weekend usually means rest, relaxation and a long weekend. To one of the hardest-working racers in the sport, Robby Gordon, it is an opportunity to travel across the country and do what he loves best, race. Gordon will race The Off Road Championship (TORC), at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway, in Crandon, Wis., on Sunday, September 6, and then jump on a plane and head to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Labor Day Classic 500, later that night.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity with Polaris as the primary sponsor of the TORC entry in Crandon and the NASCAR entry in Atlanta. To combine these two tracks where I historically perform well together on Labor Day weekend should make for an exciting double-header,” commented Robby Gordon on the Polaris sponsorship.

As part of the multi-year product development and marketing agreement Polaris and Gordon inked earlier this year, Polaris will be the primary sponsor of Gordon’s No. 007 TORC Chevy Silverado race truck for the TORC race and the primary sponsor on the No. 7 NSCS Toyota Camry, at the NASCAR Labor Day Classic 500.

Robby Gordon - No. 7 NSCS Toyota Camry

“We can not be more excited to be associated with Robby and what he is trying to accomplish in both Crandon and Atlanta,” said Craig Scanlon, director of Off-Road Vehicle sales for Polaris. “Robby has quickly become a integral part of the Polaris family and we are very proud to have him represent the more than 3,000 employees at Polaris.”

On his 20-year anniversary of his first World Championship win in the series, Gordon returns to Crandon in hopes of capturing the first cup race of the TORC season. He is still the youngest off-road racer in history to win a World Championship title and ring at Crandon.

A whirlwind of a weekend, Gordon will practice for the TORC race on Friday and Saturday morning, then fly to Atlanta after Saturday’s practice to qualify for the NASCAR Labor Day Classic, and return to Crandon on Saturday night for more prep before the race on Sunday. After the TORC race, he’ll jump back on a plane to compete in the NASCAR race on Sunday evening.

“Earlier in the year, we began our relationship working on product development with Polaris’ Side-by-Side division. To have them become more involved in our program is very exciting, especially on the Off-road racing side of things. This enables us to continue sharing information back and forth to further help with the future development on the consumer Side-by-Side products,” stated Gordon on his relationship with Polaris.

This past winter, Gordon and Polaris entered into a three-year agreement that included Gordon providing insight on future products and promoting Polaris’ RANGER RZR Side-by-Sides. The agreement was unique in that Gordon would not only market Polaris product but also use his off-road expertise to help create new Polaris vehicles. It won’t be much longer when off-road enthusiasts will see the first of the units co-developed by Robby Gordon and Polaris.

“Gordon is one of the hardest-working names in racing, and his work ethic and off-road knowledge has been instrumental in the development of new Polaris products during the past seven months. We look forward to an exciting Labor Day race weekend and future product launch,” added Scanlon.

The TORC off-road race can be seen live on ABC, Sunday, September 5, from 4-5 p.m. ET. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Labor Day Classic 500 will air on ESPN, starting at 7 p.m. ET, Sunday night.

Utah legislators and citizens band together to TAKE BACK UTAH

Salt Lake City, UT – Legislators and citizens are banding together on August 8, 2009 in a combine parade and rally through the streets of the capitol see to Take Utah Back. Too much of what makes Utah a great place to live, work, and play has been taken from us. Over 63% of Utah lands belong to the federal government. In contrast, less than 5% of Texas has been declared public lands. Many Utah counties have been hard hit by these federal landgrabs, none more so than Southern Utah’s Kane County.
Kane County’s own Representative Mike Noel leads the charge in this David and Goliath battle: "I am dedicated to multiple uses for public lands, which is the key to maintaining a healthy and prosperous agricultural, small business, tourist and resource-based economy in southern Utah."
A cold war has been brewing in the Western United States for decades over the use of public land and resources. The Take Back Utah movement is a grass roots effort sponsored by many local and regional organizations and legislators. We are committed to responsible use of and access to public land in Utah.
On August 8th, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Utahns will arrive from all over the state to participate in a parade/rally to Take Utah Back. They will gather at 200 E 500 South in downtown Salt Lake City, where the parade will begin and wind its way toward the Capitol Building where the rally will be held on the south steps. The rally will be comprised of speeches and music.

Speakers: Representative Mike Noel, Sheriff Richard Mack and others
Music: David Osmond and others

About Take Back Utah
The Take Back Utah movement is a grass roots effort sponsored by many local and regional organizations. We are committed to responsible use of and access to public land in Utah.
Did you know that when public land is closed to public access nearly every citizen of our state is harmed?
Access is essential to many things that affect our quality of life. It even has an impact on funding available for Utah’s public education system. From issues of energy independence to the quality of our children’s education, access to public land impacts us all.
Our movement will send a loud and clear message to elected officials, government agencies, the general public and radical environmentalists that the people of our great state will not roll over and allow our state and quality of life to be taken from us. We will not allow federally managed land to be used as a political pawn at our expense. We will not allow a radical few to determine what land will remain accessible to the public. Finally we will not allow politicians to sit by and do nothing on these issues while we suffer at the mercy of a federal government that takes harmful actions against our citizens.
Our government was designed to be by the people and for the people, but too many individuals and government agencies have forgotten or ignored these important foundational principles. This event will help change this.

YAMAHA RESPONSE TO CBS NEWS STORY

Go to TruthAboutRhino.com for Accurate Information

CYPRESS, Calif. – August 4, 2009 – The following is an official statement from Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., in response to the recent CBS News story. This statement can be attributed to Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A. Please go to www.TruthAboutRhino.com for more information.

Safety drives everything we do at Yamaha. We are proud of the safety record and safety features of the Yamaha Rhino, which has skyrocketed in popularity due to its exceptional reliability, safety and versatility.

Over 150,000 Rhino owners have used the vehicles safely, including the U.S. military, border patrol, and a growing number of law enforcement agencies, fire fighters and other first responders. In fact, more than 99 percent of Rhino owners have operated their vehicles safely and responsibly over millions of hours of use. The Rhino has won virtually every “first in class” award and top safety ratings in independent reviews since its introduction.

The popularity of the Rhino, and the fact that it represents a new category of off-road motorized vehicles, has made it a target for some plaintiffs’ lawyers who increasingly use the Internet, television advertisements and the news media to attract clients. As the first trial dates approach in personal injury litigation in various courts, some law firms have embarked on a misleading publicity campaign to influence potential jurors and/or the outcomes of these cases, and to solicit potential clients. Yamaha will properly deal with these cases in the courtroom based on all the relevant evidence and a fair opportunity to be heard.

Unfortunately, these law firms successfully convinced CBS News to help further their disingenuous publicity campaign, and the network aired a story on the Rhino that included inaccurate, incomplete and false information.

To begin with, CBS featured an incident involving Justin Miller, but failed to mention that Mr. Miller was driving a heavily modified Rhino. As the photo of that Rhino posted on CBS's own website reveals and the investigating officer testified -- the Rhino Miller was driving had an extended cage structure, and what looks to be a back seat bolted to the rear cargo bed. The vehicle's owner signed a waiver for his purchase of a "Custom Rhino" stating that the vehicle has "additional third party parts and accessories not offered by the manufacturer" and releasing all claims against the dealer and "all other persons and entities" related to the purchase of the vehicle.

The CBS story also shows security camera footage of an incident involving Zach Murray, a former employee at a Yamaha dealership who is currently a plaintiff with his own pending lawsuit. In a post-incident letter to his employer, Mr. Murray wrote that he intentionally stepped out of the overturning vehicle. Although CBS was made aware of Mr. Murray's letter, they neglected to include mention of it in their story.

In addition, Mr. Murray was not wearing a seatbelt or a helmet. He was operating the vehicle on pavement then made a sharp, high-acceleration turn, and did not stay inside the vehicle.

A more complete version of the security camera tape shows two other vehicles being driven recklessly on the same stretch of pavement where the accident occurred, suggesting that an atmosphere of horseplay existed just prior to Murray's crash, and that the only reason for Murray to be making a sharp, high acceleration turn was to also engage in horseplay.

In a separate part of the story, CBS cites documents that discuss an early pre-prototype vehicle that had a different design than, and no relation to, the Rhino that is on the market today. Despite being told weeks ago that it would be false to imply that these documents relate to the Rhino in any way, CBS chose to include this misleading information in its report.

Yamaha was contacted for the CBS segment two months ago by Myron Levin, a freelance reporter with a long history of writing news stories that favor the plaintiffs’ bar. Yamaha provided a great deal of information to Mr. Levin, including responding to more than 40 written questions. Mr. Levin also conducted an hour-long interview with a Yamaha representative at Yamaha's offices in California. Yamaha did not agree to an on-air interview with the reporter, Armen Keteyian, because we could not be assured that such an interview would not be selectively edited and used in misleading ways with statements taken out-of-context given the obvious plaintiffs’ slant with which the CBS producers were developing their story.

Like the CPSC, Yamaha takes very seriously any reported Rhino-related accident, and Yamaha has fully cooperated in the agency’s investigation of the Rhino and its request for modifications. Yamaha will continue to work to promote safe and responsible use of the vehicles, including the active, ongoing development of standards for all recreational off-road side-by-side vehicles, including the Rhino.

Yamaha stands firmly behind the Rhino and will continue to vigorously defend the product against baseless claims and distortions, whether they be from plaintiffs’ law firms or biased, inaccurate media reports parroting these lawyers’ claims. The Rhino is a safe and useful off-road vehicle when driven responsibly by licensed operators aged 16 or older and according to the instructions and warnings in our on-product labels, owner’s manuals, and other safety materials.
