2008 Polaris RZR Voltage Regulator Relocation Harness

Charging issues solved with voltage regulator relocation

Have you noticed your battery light blinking on your 2008 Polaris RZR? This alarm is telling you that the battery voltage on your RZR is too low. You would think that with a 500W stator that the RZR would have no problem keeping everything running. But even with no accessories and just the factory headlights and cooling fan on, many owners have encountered low voltage issues with their 2008 RZR.

One main reason that causes this problem is your voltage regulator. The voltage regulator is designed to automatically maintain a constant voltage level. In doing that work, the regulator will generate heat.

Your voltage regulator needs to stay cool to properly charge your battery. 2008 RZRs have a problem with keeping the voltage regulator cool because it is located under the driver's seat.

Once the regulator stops working, any power generated from the stator will not reach your electrical system and the battery voltage will drop. Then the battery light on your dash will start blinking and it is just a matter of time before you are stranded.

Polaris solved this problem on the 2009 RZRs by moving the voltage regulator up in front of the radiator. Now you can do the same thing on your 2008 RZR without cutting any wires! Our wire extension allows you to move your voltage regulator from under the seat (no air flow = overheating) to in front of the radiator just like Polaris did on the 2009 models.

This is a 10 1/2 foot long extension, using the correct Packard/Delphi connectors and terminals and assembled with correct Packard tooling. The harnesses will be made using high quality Cross Link Polymer wire and covered in high temp, flexible woven loom. This harness allows you to disconnect the voltage regulator on your 2008 Polaris RZR (under driver's seat) and relocate in front of the radiator like you find on 2009 RZRs.

Please note that you will need a bracket to mount the regulator up in front of the radiator as shown in the 2009 RZR photo above. You can order a bracket from your Polaris dealer - Part # - PL5252587.

New Teryx Winshield from HunterWorks.com

New unbreakable and uncrackable material, same great coating.
I will tell you why you should consider it.
Reason 1:
We found a company that makes windshields for NASCAR and they have a proprietary chemical they flow onto Acrylic or Polycarbonate and then bake it on and the result is the MOST scratch resistant windshield next to glass which is very break prone.
Any other windshield out there requires special cleaners and special rags because they scratch so easy. You can use gas and steel wool on ours to clean it, it doesn't hurt it.
As a matter of fact we took a piece of steel wool and ran it under a windshield wiper on the windshield for three straight days and no scratches. Try that with the others!!
People ask, "Can you scratch it?", yes you can with a screwdriver or something but not with dirt on a rag or cloth like the others out there.
Reason 2:
With any other windshield including the half windshields dust is a big problem because of the vacuum created behind the windshield as you travel. Ours has a vent all the way across you can open on warmer days and allow the air to flow thru upsetting the vacuum therefore cutting down on dust.
Reason 3:
All windshields including half windshields are hot in the summer, on ours just open the vent up by loosening the four knobs on the vent and slide it open to let the air flow thru all the while protecting your face
Reason 4:
Our windshield is fully trailerable with no worry about bowing the windshield since we have the two pieces of aluminum angle to give it support.
Reason 5:
Our windshield is by far the clearest windshield available next to glass, see the photo below taken from inside the cab.
Reason 6:
Now with new material it won't break or crack, see our video.

Championship Off Road Racing Cancels Final 2008 Race

Championship Off Road Racing Cancels Final 2008 Race

Newport Beach, CA (November 14, 2008)— Championship Off Road Racing has regretfully announced the cancellation of its final race weekend of the 2008 season scheduled to be held in Chula Vista, California on December 6th – 7th 2008.

Championship Off Road Racing, CEO Jim Baldwin made the following statement:

“The current national financial crisis has impacted our series to the degree that it has become impossible to produce the quality off road racing experience that our fans, racers and sponsors have enjoyed. While it has been our most sincere effort to hold this final event, every possible avenue was exhausted before reaching this difficult decision. Although we have been forced to prematurely end the current season, we are strongly committed to providing the ultimate off road racing experience on the most extreme tracks while continuing to grow the sport. We apologize to our sponsors, teams and especially to our loyal fans for any inconvenience that this has caused. Our commitment to this sport, sponsors, the teams, and fans that support us is unwavering. We will continue to vigorously pursue our objective: To build the most exciting nationally recognized short course off road racing series in the country.”
CORR is in the midst of establishing a solid 2009 race schedule. This confirmed schedule, to be released shortly, is comprised of twelve rounds of racing to be held on six weekends in 2009. There are currently discussions underway with the objective of increasing that number to as many as eight race weekends and 16 rounds. We are working to assemble a revised business plan that will reflect the steps necessary to overcome the current economic challenges. Our sponsors have shown us that they understand the current economic climate and have expressed their desire to participate with us in seeing this sport blossom. The significant investment made in CORR has brought huge crowds, national exposure, and some of the most exciting racing ever seen in the dirt.

Yamaha Awards Grant to Off-Road Business Association (ORBA)

OFF-ROAD BUSINESS ASSOCIATION (ORBA)

YAMAHA AWARDS GRANT OF $15,000 TO THE OFF-ROAD BUSINESS ASSOCIATION (ORBA)

The donation supports ORBAs work preserving and Promoting responsible OHV use on public lands.

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 13, 2008) ORBA is pleased to announce it has received a Yamaha OHV Access Initiative GRANT (Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nation’s Trails) of $15,000 for trail identification and mapping equipment. The GRANT was awarded as a part of Yamaha’s OHV Access Initiative promoting safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable riding areas.

The funding will be used to purchase equipment that will enable ORBA to expand its efforts on behalf of its members and the OHV community as a whole. The GPS mapping equipment, mapping software, and laptop computers will enable ORBA staff to inventory current trails and provide accurate, detailed information to land managers involved in travel planning and route designation. This information will assist land managers to identify routes that they may not be aware of or to update information. We expect that this will reduce arbitrary closures because of a lack of current information and that the end result will be that more existing routes will ultimately be formally designated for OHV use. With all National Forests currently going through the Route Designation process, and many BLM offices also revising their Resource Management Plans or Travel Management Plans, this equipment will be a very valuable tool to make our input more effective.

Fred Wiley, Executive Director of ORBA, stated “We are honored to have our application approved by the GRANT funding committee. We look forward to using the equipment and funding to help provide continued access to trails that are threatened by closure and hopefully enable the designation of many routes not currently on agency inventories or designated for motorized travel.”

Bobcat introduces the Toolcat 5610

Toolcat 5610 has three-point hitch, PTO and front lift arm for increased utility work machine versatility
Bobcat Toolcat 5610

(WEST FARGO, N.D.) Bobcat introduces the Toolcat™ 5610, a revolutionary new model in the company’s line of one-of-a-kind utility work machines, featuring a three-point hitch and hydraulic power take off (PTO) for rear implements and the ability to run more than 40 front-mounted Bobcat® attachments.
Toolcat utility work machines accomplish many of the same tasks as a compact tractor, attachment carrier, compact loader, utility vehicle and more. The Toolcat 5610 has an available Category 1 three-point hitch that allows buildings and grounds crews, landscapers, agriculture producers, property owners and others to perform a variety of tasks with three-point implements. Customers with existing Category 1 three-point implements, up to 1,775 pounds, will be able to use them on the Toolcat 5610.
The Toolcat 5610 has an available PTO for running implements on the rear of the machine. A hydraulically driven motor powers the 540-revolutions-per-minute PTO to drive implements such as grain augers, multiple stage mowers, tillers, sprayers and snowblowers, among others. High-flow auxiliary hydraulics are required to run the PTO.
In addition to using three-point implements on the rear of the machine, the Toolcat 5610 is also a compact loader and attachment carrier, with a front lift arm that has a rated operating capacity (ROC) of 1,300 pounds. It has a 1,500-pound ROC if the optional counterweight kit is used.
The Bob-Tach™ mounting system on the lift arm enables operators to switch between attachments in less than a minute and requires no additional assistance or tools. The Power Bob-Tach system is available as an option to change non-hydraulic attachments with the flip of a switch from inside the cab. More than 40 front-mounted attachments are available for use on the Toolcat 5610.
With the rear PTO three-point hitch and the front lift arm, operators can use two different attachments on the Toolcat 5610 at the same time as long as one of the attachments is non-hydraulic. For example, a hydraulic soil conditioner can be mounted on the front while a non-hydraulic seeder implement is used on the rear of the machine. Using two attachments on the Toolcat 5610 will save the operator time by reducing the need to stop and change attachments between tasks.
Rear remote hydraulics are also an option on the Toolcat 5610. This option allows the operator to control two different hydraulic cylinders by pushing a switch in the machine’s cab for momentary flow of five gallons per minute. Many implements have two hydraulic cylinders that position or operate the equipment. This option allows the operator to use all features of these implements, such as to angle or cut a swale with a box blade, adjust the chute on a snowblower, or raise and lower the decks on a multi-stage mower.
The Toolcat 5610 does not have a rear cargo box like the Toolcat 5600. Instead, the Toolcat 5610 has two rear compartments capable of carrying up to 50 pounds of load each. These areas are also convenient for carrying tools and other small items so they do not have to be transported in the cab.
The Toolcat 5610 features four-wheel independent suspension, providing top-of-the-line comfort while maximizing traction, attachment performance and turning. Four-wheel independent suspension is beneficial when mowing, spraying, pushing snow or traveling comfortably over uneven terrain. The wheel and frame isolation of independent suspension increases wheel-to-ground contact, which better absorbs shock to help maintain a consistent mowing height and improve traction.
The full-time four-wheel drive system on the 5610 is designed with an emphasis on performance while offering operation for a variety of conditions. Exclusive limited slip differentials constantly monitor tractive effort, delivering torque to all four wheels while automatically managing distribution of that power to respond to the ground conditions. From powering through mud and snow, maintaining traction to minimize turf damage or traveling an uphill trail, the Toolcat 5610 will automatically sense where traction can be obtained and transfer power there.
A power management feature on the Toolcat 5610 balances power distribution between the attachment and drive system. For example, if the operator is blowing snow and encounters a deeper drift, the attachment and machine will need more time to power through it. Power management automatically makes that necessary adjustment, matching drivetrain and attachment requirements to deliver maximum efficiency and productivity. This feature is also a benefit when mowing heavy brush, tilling or working on an incline.
In addition to power management, the Toolcat 5610 drive system also features a work mode, which delivers precise control of travel speed when finite movements are required. Other drive system features that help provide smooth operation include shift-on-the-fly two-speed, cruise control and both hydrostatic and conventional braking systems.
The all-wheel-steer capability of the Toolcat 5610 delivers a tighter turning radius than most all-terrain vehicles, allowing work to be done in areas that other equipment of the same size and capabilities can’t get to. It has a turning radius of 17.5 feet, which is smaller than a pickup truck, compact tractor or utility vehicle. All-wheel steer enables operators to mow around trees, travel trails or move material in tight spaces, such as corrals or between buildings on a university campus.
All-wheel steering also makes the Toolcat 5610 ideal for turf and grass work. The axles on the inside of the turn are at a sharper angle than those on the outside. When the 5610 makes sharp turns on grass or other improved surfaces, the all-wheel steering yields little or no damage to the turf. All-wheel steering also lessens the wear to the tires of the 5610 when the machine is working on concrete or asphalt. Turf tires are available for the Toolcat 5610 to further reduce turf damage.
The Toolcat 5610 has a side-mounted engine, providing easy access to routine maintenance items. In addition, the onboard diagnostics and machine shutdown protection feature lessens the chance of damage to the engine or hydraulic components.
The standard 2-inch receiver hitch and 4,000-pound towing capacity satisfies the majority of maintenance-related towing requirements.
With an automotive-style cab, tilt-steering wheel and drive pedal operation similar to that of a pickup, putting the machine to work is more intuitive and less intimidating than other types of compact equipment. For optimal operator comfort, customers can choose an enclosed cab with heat and air conditioning, a CD player and keyless start.

ROHVA Announces Safety Rules for Safe and Responsible Use of UTVs

ROHVA Announces Safety Rules for Safe and Responsible Use of Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles

Receives ANSI Accreditation to Develop Voluntary Vehicle Standard for this Emerging New Product Category

IRVINE, Calif., Nov 10, 2008 -- Formed by the major manufacturers and distributors to promote the safe and responsible use of a new and emerging category of recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs), the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA) received ANSI accreditation on November 3, 2008 to develop a standard for the equipment, configuration and performance requirements of ROVs. In addition, ROHVA has published Safety Rules for these increasingly popular off-road vehicles.
An ROV -- sometimes broadly referred to as a side-by-side or UTV -- is a motorized off-highway vehicle designed to travel on four or more non-highway tires, with a steering wheel, non-straddle seating, seat belts, an occupant protective structure, and engine displacement up to 1,000cc. Current models are designed with seats for a driver and one or more passengers. ROVs' performance and durability make them ideally suited for a variety of outdoor recreational activities as well as many work applications.
The following "ROV Safety Rules" focus on safe and responsible ROV use:

1. Always wear protective gear, use the seat belts, keep all parts of your body inside the ROV, and wear a helmet when driving the ROV for recreational purposes.
2. Never drive on public roads -- another vehicle could hit you.
3. Drive only in designated areas, at a safe speed, and use care when turning and crossing slopes.
4. Never drive under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
5. Never drive an ROV unless you're 16 or older or have a driver's license. ROVs are not toys.
6. Never carry more passengers than the ROV is designed for, and never allow a passenger who is too small to sit in a passenger seat to ride in the ROV.
7. Read and follow the operator's manual and warning labels.

"The safety of the driver and passengers of ROVs is the top priority of the ROHVA member companies," said ROHVA Vice President Tom Yager. "ROHVA and our member companies strongly recommend that ROV drivers and passengers follow these important safety rules to avoid crashes and injuries."
ROHVA submitted its application for accreditation by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) on June 13, 2008 and received accreditation to develop a standard for ROVs on November 3. ROHVA will manage the standards development process and make certain that the final standard is in full compliance with ANSI guidelines. An approved ANSI standard for equipment configuration and performance requirements in this emerging product category will benefit consumers.
In addition, ROHVA will serve as the primary resource for information on ROVs. To coincide with its ANSI accreditation the association has launched a website, www.rohva.org, and has published ROV Safety Rules as well as a description of this emerging vehicle category. Further specific ROV educational materials are currently under development and will be posted to the site.
ROVs offered in dealerships across the country include the Arctic Cat Prowler, Kawasaki TERYX(TM), Polaris Ranger(R) and Ranger RZR(TM), and Yamaha Rhino models.
The Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA) was formed to promote the safe and responsible use of recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) manufactured or distributed in North America. Based in Irvine, Calif., the not-for-profit trade association is sponsored by Arctic Cat, Honda, Kawasaki, Polaris, and Yamaha.

U.S. Probes Off-Road Vehicles After a String of Accidents

The Yamaha Rhino, a hit in the off-road-vehicle market, promises to go "almost anywhere" with an "amazingly high level of comfort and ease." Now, federal safety regulators are investigating the vehicle following reports of some 30 deaths involving it, including those of two young girls last month.

The Rhino also has drawn keen interest from the plaintiffs' bar: Yamaha faces more than 200 lawsuits in state and federal courts, many alleging the Rhino's design is unsafe. Yamaha has settled some but recently beefed up its defense and says it may start to fight rather than settle.

Yamaha Rhino

Yamaha stands behind the design of the Rhino, a two-seat vehicle that looks a little like a cross between a golf cart and all-terrain vehicle. The Consumer Product Safety Commission said its investigation of this type of vehicle, which it calls a utility terrain vehicle, or UTV, was prompted by various factors, including the number of accident reports and the lawsuits. The Rhino is at the center of its investigation, people familiar with it said.

The rest of the story can be found at:
