John Deere Sponsors STIHL TIMBERSPORTS U.S. Championships

John Deere Gator™ named the official Utility Vehicle of the national event.

CARY, N.C. (June 12, 2015) — This summer, John Deere is teaming up with corporate partner STIHL Inc., to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of one of the most thrilling sports in the world, the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® U.S. Championships, in New York City’s Central Park on June 20, 2015. While at the event, visitors will get to witness “The Original Extreme Sport,” as well as the latest John Deere Gator™ offerings, the official Utility Vehicle of the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® Series.

Established in 1985 by STIHL Inc., the sport pits the top lumberjack athletes in the country in chopping, sawing and cutting competitions. Based on historic lumberjack traditions, the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® Series challenges lumberjack athletes from around the country in the disciplines of hot saw, single buck, springboard chop, standing block chop, stock saw and underhand chop. These traditional disciplines test the competitors’ strength, endurance, stamina, tool skill and agility.

For the first time in the event’s history, the U.S. Championships will be hosted in New York City’s Central Park. The competition will be a part of the Park’s annual Adventures NYC event. The Championships will be broadcast on ABC on Oct. 11, Oct. 18 and Oct. 25 at 4 p.m.
