Factory UTV Support Racers Dominate 2018 King Of Hammers UTV Race

Mitch Guthrie Jr.

Johnson Valley CA: Generally regarded as the toughest single day off-road race on the planet, the 2018 King of the Hammers UTV Race lived up to its’ billing. Of the 120 UTV racers that signed up to take on the 2018 King of the Hammers race, only twelve racers made it to the finish line in the alloted time. Although the first 9 finishers were driving an equal mix of Polaris RZR’s, Can-Am X3’s and Yamaha YXZ’s, they all did have one thing in common, Factory UTV UHMW Armor protecting their race machines. . All the Top 9 and the 11th finisher used Factory UTV UHMW to protect their machines against the brutal rock infested course. Congratulations to all the competitors and #futvarmy racers on tackling the toughest 1 day UTV racing event on the planet!

Huge congratulations to the new KING Mitch Guthrie Jr. Mitch piloted his Polaris RZR XP Turbo to a near perfect run and the win.

Mitch Guthrie Sr rounded out the podium with a 3rd place finish. Although the 6 time champ is used to a better finish at Hammers, his tears of pride and joy on the podium over his sons accomplishment appeared to me as good as a win for Miitch Sr.

Johnny Greaves took his Yamaha YXZ1000R, also entered in his first KOH and finished a very respectable 7th place. Johnny also took the Pole position in Qualifying. Johnny had one of my all time favorite quotes during his podium interview “Factory UTV plastics, I can’t even believe there is a floor underneath this anymore, that is the toughest sh!t I’ve ever seen”.
