Cognito Wins Blue Water Desert Challenge

This would be the first time the Cognito team has entered this race so we really didn’t know what to expect for a race course. The format is a 3 lap race Saturday and 3 lap race on Sunday for a combined time total to figure the overall race position for the weekend. Each day the race was only 73 miles so we knew this was going to be a fast pace but we needed to keep the car in one piece to finish in a top spot. We drew 6^th starting position for Saturday, but soon a few cars blew past us and we just had to keep our pace and save the car rather than get amped up into pushing too hard. We felt there was a fine line between the risk and the benefit and we rode that line as close as we could! One of those cars had a failure on the last lap which allowed us to pass before the finish line and yield a 3^rd place podium finish for Saturday.

Sunday the starting order was determined by Saturday’s finishing order. We knew the leaders from Saturday would be super fast on Sunday but we decided to ride that fine line again and it paid off for us as the leaders would have some issues that allowed us to race to a 2^nd place podium finish for Sunday. The race completion times are combined for both days to determine the winner, Cognito Motorsports by nearly 3 minutes! This is the Cognito team’s first win in Best In The Desert, much deserved, and much relieved!
We attribute the win to a very consistent pace, good prep work, and great products that helped us complete this race with no failures!
