A new model has been added to the 2009 Arctic Cat UTV lineup: A flat-bed
UTV with stake pockets. The Prowler 550 is geared towards ranch and farm
users that will need the ability to load oversized items without worrying
about fitting the load inside a more typical bed. The bed is fixed and
does not tilt, but is lined with stake pockets.

All new for 2009 is our workhorse Prowler 550 H1 EFI Flatbed, for those
who need a little more “hump-busting” from their machine. It features all
that is awesome about owning a Prowler, but is simple and ready for duty.

The Prowler 550 Flatbed is made for work. Simple and functional.
Arctic Cat has continually improved and expanded the Prowler line-up since
the introduction of the Prowler XT in 2006.

Prowler 700 vs. Prowler 550 Flatbed
Combining sporty features while not losing any of its functional “work”
qualities, the highly agile Prowler line provides the ultimate all-around
recreational machine.
The cab of every Prowler is equipped with dual bucket seats and
driver/passenger seat belts, a center console complete with drink holders
and dual 12v accessory plugs. The open air cab has a full canopy and various
storage compartments like a dash mounted tray shelf, glove box with door and
an easily accessible molded tool kit located under the passenger-side seat.
Keeping true to Arctic Cat ATV heritage, the Prowler was designed to conquer
any job when it comes to storage and hauling capacities. The black
powdercoated steel flatbed with stake pockets allows a lower bed height for
easier loading and unloading of upwards of 600lbs.
Hardcore jobs and hardcore fun are only executed when provided with Arctic
Cat-built engines, drivetrain and suspension systems. Born and bred at
Arctic Cat, the new 550 H1 EFI has a powerful 545cc, SOHC, single-cylinder,
liquid-cooled engine, designed for a wide torque curve with the smoothest
power delivery via Electronic Fuel Injection. Cold weather starting and
altitude changes are no longer questionable. Compared to the Suzuki 500
motor, the Arctic Cat 550 H1 EFI has 12% more horsepower and 25% more torque
at a lower RPM. The Duramatic automatic transmission has dynamic engine
braking with Low, High, Neutral and Reverse.
Arctic Cat engineers have laid to rest the claims of “best” suspension
travel and ground clearance by other manufacturers.
The front and rear suspensions are Fully Independent with a double A-arm
front design and a double a-arm rear design with 10” of suspension travel
for sure footed offroad prowess. Spring preload adjustable shocks are used
on all four corners for the ultimate in terrain and load adjustability,
while off-roading capabilities are enhanced by 10” of ground clearance, a
front locking 4wd differential and rear mounted swaybar for improved trail
driving.

Prowler 550 vs Prowler 700
Steel 14” wheels are standard with 26x9R14 Goodyear MTR front tires and
26x11R14 Goodyear MTRs in the rear for the ultimate in offroad traction.

Goodyear MTR Tires
Once again, Arctic Cat provides a new category entrant that will suit any
taste. So hop in, and hit the gas on the good times.
